Post by _Darth J »

The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings talk about a race of persons called hobbits that live in the Shire, which is an area of Middle Earth.

Makes perfect sense to me.

After all, you can't 100% disprove the existence of Hobbits, can you?

I thought not.

Let me try:

1. The Book of Mormon says that there were "horses" in the Americas before Columbus.

2. Tapirs existed in the Americas.

3. Any drunk Irishman will tell you that you can't tell the difference between a horse and a tapir if your vision is doubled.

4. Therefore, horses in the Americas.

In the Star Wars movies, the weapon of a Jedi Knight is a lightsaber. A lightsaber is a beam of energy emitted from a metal handle.

Ancient Roman soldiers used a metal sword called a gladius.

Therefore, Jedi Knights using lightsabers.

There are a places called North, Central and South America

Horny Holy Joe knew how to Spell (at least phonetically) North, Central and South America

Therefore the Jaradites, Nephites, Lamanites and all other Book of Mormon ites roamed the Americas.

Do we have any evidence that hobbits are not part of the lost ten tribes?

Some people think the earth is hollow.
The lost ten tribe are hiding inside the earth.
Middle is another word for inside.
Hobbits are part of the lost ten tribes.

If the Book of Mormon can be taught in colleges as literature, why can't LoTR be taught in colleges as history?

Well, at least LoTR is literature. The Book of Mormon is not history.

And certainly not literature.

The Book of Mormon is so literature. The word does not make any judgment as to the quality. And it is debatable as to whether the word refers only to what is published. Our argument is on whether it is fiction or non-fiction.

Literature (from Latin litterae (plural); letter) is the art of written work and can, in some circumstances, refer exclusively to published sources. The word literature literally means "things made from letters" and the pars pro toto term "letters" is sometimes used to signify "literature," as in the figures of speech "arts and letters" and "man of letters." Literature is commonly classified as having two major forms—fiction and non-fiction—and two major techniques—poetry and prose.

Problems with auto-correct:
In Helaman 6:39, we see the Badmintons, so similar to Skousenite Mormons, taking over the government and abusing the rights of many.
