My brother is married to a gal who is a direct descendant of Parley P. Pratt. I took my nephew skiing today, and on the drive home we were chatting. When I asked him how great grandfather Parley died, he replied he was shot. I asked by whom and why? He said by someone who didn't like Mormons. When I mentioned the guy who was legally married to Parley's twelfth wife...... He didn't even know Parley was a polygamist. Way to spin the family history SIL.

Maybe Parley's 12th wife's legal husband didn't like Mormons.

This is the standard Mormon Mode of Operations (MMO). Anything that would be viewed as less than positive for the church is changed, avoided, or simply erased. This "ends justifies the means" way of thinking is justified because it protects the church's image from all those nasty little flecks of history that are not very useful anyway.

Propping up and protecting the LDS Church is what it is all about. They call it extending the kingdom. Funny thing is the LDS Church is nothing more than the FP/12's kingdom.

Maybe the family spun it because of what BY said regarding Pratt having taken additional plural wives without authorization.
Bro. Parley's blood was split, I was glad of it for it paid the debt he owed, for he whored.

Seems like that jealous husband went overboard when he chased his wife across the country and murdered her lover. Adultery is not grounds for murder, although I admit I am speaking from a position of presentism, rather than the Old Testament.
On the other hand, Parley should have been seeking his side nookie from the single gals.
