Was William Schryver Disciplined by the Church?

Post by _lostindc »

This evening I was with my beautiful family visiting an African-American non-denom Christian parish due to an invitation from the minister. While enjoying Z level actors playing out a modern-day take on the Hosea and Gomer story, which happened to basically be a cuckold film without the porn, I happen to think of my old friend Wild Bill Schryver. Upon returning home I decided to see if he still had his fantastic anti-intellectual blog. I visited the blog and found his last post was around November, shortly following the 'black' guy winning the presidential election. Bill expressed his fears regarding the 'black' president:

I believe that if Barack Obama is granted four more years in office, the United States will never recover from the consequences. If he is granted a second term unencumbered by the moderating concerns of reelection, and flush with the rather justifiable belief that he has been given a mandate for his effectively socialist agenda, it will result in both the destruction of our economy as well as our capacity to maintain the worldwide Pax Americana that has prevailed since the end of World War II...Should the dominant position and leadership capacity of the United States continue to decline in the next four years as it has in the past four, I am personally convinced that the inevitable consequence will be the rupture of the tenuous threads that have held together the fabric of relative world peace that has characterized the era of the American superpower.

Being that Bill is quite the historian, as seen in the next quote, and likely a strong geopolitical mind I believe we might want to give pause to his ideas.

Bill Schryver wrote:I have been an assiduous student of American history since I was very young. I was quite likely, as a 9-year-old, the youngest member of the World War II Book Club, and consequently I was the target of some good-natured ribbing by my friends and family.

As you can see, Mr. Schryver must be taken seriously.

To the point, William had one or two posts expressing his extreme saddness regarding the election. At this point I paused and an impression came to my mortal mind that this has been a rough time for Bill. He has been on the losing end for quite some time. The OMIDs were pushed out leaving the Maxwell Institute actually considering scholarship in the future. Bill's secret decoder ring research appeared to fall flat with publication being formally denied (to the dismay of egyptologists and linguists around the world). Additionally, Bill's once pure nation is now becoming a host to equal rights for females and even 'black' guys are becoming president. Poor Bill has had a difficult time.

With all these hardships and a quite tamed down Bill, this leads me to pose the question - has William Schryver been formally disciplined by the Church? After his claim regarding the calculated supression of his apologetic works and then his continued attacks on the New Maxwell Institute (see link below) he may have ruffled too many feathers. There were rumors of informal and possibly formal discipline of the Ousted Maxwell Institute Danites (William, DCP, and others) and I believe William has been much more quiet due to the result of discipline. I am frightened that he may do something rash, for instance leave the Church. I hope that I am wrong.

William, please feel free to clear the air. I am genuinely concerned.

I have to confess that I never quite connect with the motivation behind misguided posts like these. You guys simply do not understand Will Schryver.

At all.

Will is completely in this thing. For the long haul. For keeps.

Nothing is going to shake Will Schryver's 110% dedication to the Mormon Gospel.

Nothing.

He believes with a level of commitment that could fully withstand the total apostasy of the LDS prophet himself.

Monson could get up in General Conference and swear off Mormonism as a complete fraud and Schryver would lament the fact that the poor old guy had been deceived.

Deceived, because he knows with total conviction that Mormonism is totally true.

I am afraid you guys underestimate, and have never understood, Will Schryver.

Will Schryver has not had his Lance Armstrong on Oprah moment.

It may be (and probably is the case) that he never will.

This is a very fair assessment regarding my theory that Schryver could someday leave the Church. I want to stress that I have never considered Bill would or could recant a testimony of Joseph Smith, rather that he may leave mainstream Church - for what? I don't know.

Is it possible William has been disciplined?

OK. I follow you.

Will Schryver may very well have been disciplined before, for all we know.

The question of whether he would go rogue because he felt the Church itself was in apostasy?

I am doubtful, but there are limitations to my mind-reading skills.

Nightlion?

Is it possible William has been disciplined?

Highly doubtful.
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.

Howdy Howdy.

I would like to ask a favor of board members. Let's give Will a break for a while. For reasons I can't share I strongly believe that raking Will over the coals -- at this time -- is not the right thing to do.

Resist the temptation and redirect all of your WS angst towards -- oh, I don't know -- why me.

I *really* hope board members will do me this favor. If/when we meet in person, I'll bring you a cuban cigar and buy you a beer. If you live in Utah I'll actually go the trouble of bringing in beer with higher alcohol content from out-of-state.

I didn't see this sentiment in either of your quotes from Bill.

Don't know your reasons for this request, but although I am no fan of Will Schryver, I will comply and hope that others will comply as well (while trusting that you will eventually let everyone know why you have asked the board for this favor).

Thank you, DrW. I promise that when possible, I will give an explanation.
