Elaine S. Dalton - Women - No need to lobby for rights

Post by _Infymus »

"Young women you will be the ones who will provide the example of virtuous womanhood and motherhood. You will continue to be virtuous lovely praiseworthy and of good report. You will also be the ones to provide an example of family life in a time when families are under attack, being redefined and disintegrating. You will understand your roles and your responsibilities and thus will see no need to lobby for rights."

Elaine S. Dalton, YW General President, January 15, 2013.

What a stupid, stupid, stupid Mormon woman. This is as bad as Julie Beck's talks from 2007 where she told women to quit their jobs and go back to having babies - see http://www.mormoncurtain.com/topic_juli ... 1793586299

Elaine is basically telling women if they will shut up, have babies and obey - they won't need rights. And while Mopologists will claim that she is speaking as a woman - The Mormon Cult allowed her to say this. They published it. She is speaking for them. And she is showing that they still follow the 1950's mantra of stay at home, have babies - and shut your goddamn mouth - and there won't be any problems.

I hope that Mormon women will see this for what it is - manipulation - and stand up for their rights - their EQUAL rights.

What do you expect? The LDS is primarily a church for men, a patriarchal - hierarchical church. Women shall like in all such churches (e.g. the RCC and SBC) make the legs broad and keep their mouth shut there.
You criticize the statement of this woman? I also! But I also see that it is a product of the LDS environment. Women in the LDS have never learned to be free.
Do you still remember the criminal case of Lori Hacking?
The husband killed his wife there because she wanted to make his lies public.
The lesson for all women in the church: Be silent, otherwise you are killed.
It is so sad to have to write this. I wish the LDS were more sensitive.

Ugh!

"understand your roles and responsibilities"??? Oh, I know these are fully drilled into the young women right now too. My daughter-in-law is a young women's president and I hear her talking about the "wonderful, new lessons" and explaining what they are....it makes me ill!

I'm so glad I got at least my youngest daughter out before she was indoctrinated.

And...

"no need to lobby for rights"??? REALLY? Wow!!

Exactly....and they are obviously still against women lobbying for equal rights.

Infymus, I think this must be in response to the "Wear Pants To Church Day" and "Let Women Pray in General Conference"....what do you think?

I agree...ugh. Madison, do you mind sharing a bit about what your DIL finds wonderful in the new lessons? I spent many years in the yw program and I've been curious about the new manuals. I was keeping my fingers crossed that there were some progressive changes but after sis Dalton's remarks, I'm guessing I shouldn't get my hopes up.

That statement scores a perfect 10 on the cult meter.
It is my province to teach to the Church what the doctrine is. It is your province to echo what I say or to remain silent.
