Unwritten rules that don't affect your salvation

Post by _DarkHelmet »

This question is directed at TBMs. There are unwritten rules in Mormonism that even most apologists would say have no bearing on your salvation. Things like white shirts, tattoos, piercings, caffeine, flip flops, tight shirts, sexual fetishes with your lawful spouse, long hair for boys, short skirts for girls, the location of the Book of Mormon lands, etc. If these issues have no bearing on a person's salvation, but obedience to your priesthood leaders does, what is a person to do when their priesthood leader enforces these arbitrary rules? If your priesthood leader believes in the hemispheric model, and preaches it from the pulpit, and you are an LGT believer, are you required to get in line with his beliefs? If you disobey your priesthood leader and follow your own beliefs, beliefs that are still in harmony with the gospel, is your salvation in jeopardy for failing to obey your priesthood leader?

Yep. Outer Darkness awaits those who doubt that Big Foot is Really Cain as told by Spence Kimball (another mystical being, known in the Universe as Yoda)
