I used to work at the veil in the Provo temple and always thought it a little strange that I was working with women at the veil. I justified it because I considered (at the time) God to be a man and it wouldn't be too practical to let a woman pretend to be God (for shame!). Looking back, it seems so silly not to have women greet at the veil. I mean, why the hell not?

Oh for shame, how the mortals put the blame on us gods, for they say evils come from us, but it is they, rather, who by their own recklessness win sorrow beyond what is given... Zeus (1178 BC)

Hey Ceebs,
You perform the sacred functions related to the oaths and covenants of the endowment, which likely cannot be discussed here, out of respect. You sort of do what is depicted in the image of the OP except with a veil in between. I would act as God and receive the patron by taking their hand and pulling them into the opening of the veil, just as God will do after this life.

"And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit. At that moment the curtain (veil) was torn in two from top to bottom." NIV Matt:27: 50-51.
The only person who went through the veil in the Jewish temple was the High Priest. He did it once every year to make atonement for the people. He wore a cord attached to his ankle so that if anything happened to him, like being struck dead by God inside the Holy of Holies, he could be hauled out without anyone else defiling the sacred place. As Hebrews makes clear, Jesus has passed through into the literal heavenly Holy of Holies and seals atonement for all time, once and for all, by the sacrifice of himself and make intercession on behalf of those saved in him.
Such makes redundant the idea of Mormon temple ritual and any need for the temple veil to be stitched back up. The whole process is an affront to Christ and his atonement.
Since women are allowed to act as proxies for everything else, and are allowed to give blessings by the laying on of hands during the Initiatory, I am not sure why they couldn't proxy as God through the veil for the female patrons, either. Good thought, Zee!
People tend to snicker at the idea of having to use passwords to get into heaven, but there are some cool aspects to the idea as well...

watched the second one and wathed only part of the first one (as the first one was pretty long) and other than thanking you for providing the links, I will refrain from any additional comment.
Do you have to be married in order to work at the veil in the Temple?
I don't remember seeing any single men in our group. We would hang out in the hall chatting (whispering) before the veil opened and all the guys my age were married.
