I did not watch the video linked, however I assume it is about sex and abstinence.
When Stephanie Meyer says "Yes, I wrote Twilight as a metaphor for premarital sex and abstinence." Then I might listen to someone else.
UNTIL THEN, anyone try to explain "What a book means." Is one of two people.
The first type is person who must justify their Literature based education. In doing so this type concocks all manner of wild and ridiculous ideas about books. And their final act is to subjugate the rest of if us to their nonesense.
The second type of person is a person following in the footsteps of the first.
The common thread between the two types is realizing that no one really cares about literature other than to simply enjoy a book. Realizing no one cares and therefore does not care about a English Lit Degree, the person must justify their educational existence with ridiculous theories about books.

Hi Sheets,
You should watch the video. It's really about the history and psychology behind the recent interest in vampire lore and it's relationship to religion and culture.
I can't tell you how bored I am with the current flood of vampires, zombies and werewolves in popular culture these days, but I do find the reasons for them fascinating.
This, or any other post that I have made or will make in the future, is strictly my own opinion and consequently of little or no value.

Is the video based on any of the psycho-sexual insights of Freud, the archetypes of Jung or is it mere sociology and feminism? Just asking.

I don't think feminism was a theme. You can judge for yourself if it espouses Freudian or Jungian ideas. I suppose those may be an element as would be sociology by it's mere nature. I think I would call it an analysis of the cultural phenomenon.

cool!

Yeah, it was kind of cool.
I think I may have forgotten to thank aussieguy for posting it.

Is there a print version or can some summarize it?

Prior to twilight the last vampire theme I knew of was back in the mid 1990s.
I suppose the underworld movies too, but I never really saw those movies are being part of some kind of cultural fenom.
One things deeply disturbing about twilght is the fans.

I read Bram Stoker's "Dracula" when I was a kid. His writing made it so believable. Much better than any movie production based on the novel.
I have seen some pretty freaky twilight fans, but I also have seen some middle aged ladies in 'mom jeans' that are into the series.
The play with Frank Langella ran for years on Broadway.
There is no doubt that there is a deeper psychological element to the popularity of vampires.
The video explores that. I know it's long. I watched in bits and pieces during breaks from work.
