Supernatural

Post by _sock puppet »

According to the First Vision (almost if not all of its versions), JSJr and the LDS Church claim that JSJr saw and experienced something supernatural. Then there were the Moroni (or Nephi or whatever other JSJr concocted name), an angel, that appeared to JSJr in his bedroom.

But then, rather than just deliver in a supernatural way a transcript of 500+ pages in English of the Book of Mormon narrative, JSJr is required to look at a magic rock stuck down in the crown of an upside down hat, into which JSJr planted his face and read off the magically appearing phrases. How come? Why did not E and J just provide it to JSJr in an English manuscript on pages ready to go to the printer? Better yet, why not just provide him thousands of printed books to hand out?

Because supernatural inspires great art. We don't want to be encombered by impractical art. God is a practical being, using practical means to bring about his works.

This is probably the best example of the supernatural that I have ever come across:

Joseph needed to experience revelation for himself and get proficient at it, which he did. He was led by the hand. As are all saints according to the foreknowledge and purposes of the Lord.

I was given a vivid dream that caused me to look at mountains twenty-five years before it was fulfilled in The Apocalrock. See?
That given destiny saw me through many a bad road along the way.

Now I am not out to lunch just on my last break. I am so used to what would be thought of as a SN experience to be fair I will have to talk down to y'all 'bout it. Only when the Lord is near to me in his thoughts or presence do I GET SUDDEN THOUGHTS that aregiven for me toknow. Sometimes like today he was near and itwas as if hecould not help to think of what would be thenext best thing for me to do at my job and isuddenly know it. Iitis super natural and impossle to account for any other way.

In some respects, the LDS Church is like a growing person. It started like a child, full of imagination and discovery. Now, it is very careful, serious, and stressed out.

Good analogy through the 1970s, that is. Now, it has advanced Alzheimer's.
