Where was Elohim when the Boston Marathon blew up?
Just wondering...
I make an end of my writing upon these plates, which writing has been small; and to the reader I bid farewell, hoping that many of my brethren may read my words. Brethren, adieu.

In the actions of the people running to help complete strangers, in the compassion and outpouring of love to the victims, and in the resolve to provide all we can in support and assistance to others.

Hey, wasn't there some kind of LDS prediction regarding Massachusetts or Boston?

There was that thing about Salem, I don't think it was Boston though. I know Henry B. Eyring talked a lot about Rhode Island and Massachusetts during Priesthood Session April 2013 but I don't recall anything in my perusal of church history indicating IEDs in Boston athletics. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

That's one viewpoint.
I will bet that the people responsible for these cowardly devices would argue that God was in their hearts when they plotted and planted the explosives because they are on a religious jihad. People could equally claim that God was in the compassion and outpouring of love to the innocent victims of the bombs dropped by American war planes in Afghanistan and in the resolve to provide all they can in support and assistance to others. Is God absent from the American pilots who drop these bombs? Is He absent from the planners and strategists who decide that collateral damage involving the death of children is an acceptable price to get to the bad men? Is God on the side of the American victims of the Boston bombings, but not on the side of the innocent victims of the American bombings in Afghanistan? Is God with anyone that believes in taking action for what they choose to believe is right? Or is God absent from anyone and everyone that chooses a violent resolution to any conflict? Is God on the side of the Americans? The British? The Afghans? The Taliban? Al Qaeda? Is He on everyones side or no side at all?
Unfortunately God seems to be wherever 'we' decide to say He is.
That said, with the Book of Mormon, we are not dealing with a civilization with no written record. What we are dealing with is a written record with no civilization. (Runtu, Feb 2015)

Hey Book!
I would bet that you're absolutely right!
And I would completely agree that the word 'coward' is an entirely accurate word choice.
Profound......in my opinion!
Unfortunate indeed!
My heart and thoughts are with the many who have been deeply impacted and forever changed by this incomprehensible act!

There will be a number of people for whom the Boston bombings will be a reinforcement of their belief in God.
Those people of religious persuasion who woke up and, at the last minute decided not to go/participate in the marathon will ascribe their good fortune to God looking out for them. They may have got an injury, their can't might have refused to start, work might have taken them away, a family illness might have cropped up, they took a last minute decision to stand in a particular spot instead of where they had intended being where the bombs went off. All of these kinds of circumstances that meant people were not in the wrong place at the wrong time will, for believers in God, be viewed as Gods divine intervention.
I know of one individual who missed a flight for a meeting that was scheduled to take place in the World Trade Centre on that fateful September day. I know of another individual that was meant to be at a social engagement in lower Manhattan on that same day who could not attend due to the illness of a child. These individuals turned their misfortune in missing a flight or having to cancel an event because they were caught up in traffic etc into God's divine intervention.
Unfortunately, to allow for God's intervention in this way leaves one having to explain why God decided not to intervene for those poor unfortunate victims who lose their lives in these kind of things.
What a sad and bloody mess of a world.

It's a violent act of humans against other humans. No need for supernatural explanations or solutions. Depressingly familiar.
Bazooka, I saw where you did an edit that seemed to add specific information about the bombers. Where did this come from?

Way to take a horrific tragedy and use it to take a cheap shot at Mormon beliefs! Awesome!!!
Of course, you could have just as easily said the same of YWHW or Allah ... but no. Elohim it is.
I have a thought .... why don't you use your real name and tell us how you feel about Allah? Do you have the balls to do that or are you content to exploit the death and suffering of innocent people to score points against the LDS Church?
