Now, please. Is there any Mormon here who wants to explain why the Church felt the need to lie about this? Her husband Henry didn't "desert" his family. He went on a mission. Also Brigham Young was sealed to her before the second child was born.

It just disgusts me the way in which the Church feels the justification in demonizing someone's name when that person lived as a loyalist all his life. For God's sake he was so devoted he gave allowed the prophets to take his own wife from him.

No mention that Joseph Smith ever married Zina.

No mention that Joseph Smith married Zina while she was still married to and living with Henry.

No mention that Henry also continued to be Zinas loving live-in husband.

No mention that after Joseph married Zina, Henry was sent on several missions, lasting three years.

No mention that Zina married Brigham Young, while Henry was still a faithful, loving husband.

No mention that Henry was sent on a mission by Brigham Young, who then openly lived with Zina as his wife.

No mention that Henry was hurt and troubled by this.

No where in the historical record does it indicate that Henry abandoned his wife, Zina. On the contrary, the historical record is clear that Henry continued to be a caring, concerned husband who was put out of the way by Joseph Smith and Brigham Young.

I don't think the article was particularly untruthful. I think it was adapted for small children in a way that is appropriate for them and probably based upon a specific biography. As a result, I don't think any of it was untruthful.

Yep. It's my fault I didn't know the real history of the church. Maybe I should have skipped more seminary and SS lessons and read anti sites instead to learn the truth when I was young.

the church will continue to bleed out... and it's their own fault and making. They refuse to fix the problems.

What is not refreshing, or even that unusual, is the LDS Church engaging in institutional lying to its members by means of official Church publications, whether they be for children or not.

Darren10 had an interesting answer in post #3 of the MADB which did not seem to be addressed, at least not immediately as I have not read the whole long thread. This example seems to have happened after BY ostensibly told Jacobs to find another and also I don't see the reason why Jacob's wife here cannot be Zina (if so, there was no other wife at the time). However, it seems worth looking into. There's too much unverified stuff here to draw the OP's conclusion so far.
