Your "why" got lost in the weeds.

There is no "rule" or "standard" by which academic turf wars are to be fought, but generally if they are fought in public it is unseemly. Drs. Peterson and Hamblin were wrong to air their grievances publicly in the first place (even though their rationale was that they wanted to set the record straight from unauthorized leaks by the MI, which was even more unseemly). But MI, or Blair Hodges, was wrong to wade into the public fora to discuss what is essentially a personnel dispute in academia. He should have shut the hell up, and I suspect by now BYU has muzzled him.

But, then, Bro. Hodges said mean things about me for my stated distaste for the MesoAmerican theory of the Book of Mormon, so you may discount my opinion accordingly.

Ah, there's the witty rejoinder I've come to expect.

How sad it is that you spend your time defending someone who did screw the help behind his wife's back.

I don't know why you find it necessary to drag my wife and my personal life into your posts.

I regret this development. I enjoyed watching Dr. Hamblin fulminate about things on his blog. Sure, it was a wonder to be hold in terms of its lack of professionalism and collegiality, but, by Jove, it was a dramatic sight to behold indeed.

Here MI is trying to emerge from the cocoon of the cottage industry of Mopologetics that was FARMS into the full light of academic credibility, and the classic-FARMS crew keeps reminding them of their humble origins in the world of scrappy polemics for the average Mormon nerd. Certainly this is not the kind of activity that the administrators of a large university smile upon.

Mark my words, the new MI is playing the part of fall guy here. It was and is the BYU admins who rejoiced at the opening they were given to send classic-FARMS packing.

He was referring to Joseph Smith, not you.

Yes, and don't think Bot did not know that. He was being the troll he is.

Holy Jezus, superstar of Kolob! Your avatar really looks desperate and lonely! Wow!!! It's Anubis come to slay the Mormons for calling him a slave!

I may be gay and loving it -- and drink like a fish -- but I would never get up on national TV and lie to the American people and say, "I wouldn't say that" when it is something I would definately say and believe.

The difference between Gordon Bitch Hinckley and me is that he's a liar and I am an honest man. You don't have to be a Christian to be an honest man. In fact, I find Christians everywhere to be the biggest liars and hypocrites. The last thing I ever want to be is a Christian. The idea of a father killing his child is disgusting.

Dear lard...you are a talentless old man...Yes, beyond being a talentless troll who needs a new hobby, you are also a complete hypocrite...didn't jeebus have something to say about hypocrites? I still find it hilarious that you "pigeonhole" anonymous posters that disagree with you as "cowards". Kind of pathetic. I get that nobody actually takes you seriously (online and in real life) and that you have nothing to lose by being too stupid to keep your personal life separate from your internet trolling, but some of us actually have lives, relationships and hobbies beyond LDS message boards...sorry you don't.

No, it doesn't. It just makes him the former governor of California.
