Evolving Mormon church?

Barb Young, whose older brother is gay, actively opposed California’s Prop 8 in 2008, even though leaders in the Utah-based Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints enlisted members to work for its passage.

At this conference, she urged Affirmation participants to be "patient like Jesus" and to love LDS Church members as they move toward understanding of their LGBT family members.

"One of the most beautiful things about this church is that it can evolve," she said. "It may not go as fast as everyone wants, but it is evolving."

The question is, why does the Church evolve into compliance with societal trends as opposed to society evolving into a reflection of the Church....
That said, with the Book of Mormon, we are not dealing with a civilization with no written record. What we are dealing with is a written record with no civilization. (Runtu, Feb 2015)

Polygamy much?
It is better to be a warrior in a garden, than a gardener at war.

Some of us, on the other hand, actually prefer a religion that includes some type of correlation with reality.

The priesthood ban change in 1978.

I'd rather be a could-be if I cannot be an are; because a could-be is a maybe who - is reaching for a star. I'd rather be a has-been than a might-have-been, by far; for a might have-been has never been, but a has was once an are. - Milton Berle

Wouldn't continuous revelation appear to be an evolution in doctrine?

Well, let's not confuse a commandment from the Lord (8/17/1949 First Presidency Statement) with 'doctrine'. We know bcspace wouldn't.

Clarifying interpretations, not changes.

Good to know, isn't it, how many earrings per ear the Lord finds acceptable? I did not know how many when I was active LDS.
