The World Table: Already a Failure?
Re: The World Table: Already a Failure?
I had trouble registering until one of the admins stepped in and confirmed my registration manually instead of through an email link (which never arrived).

Wait....that's not Markk's real photo?
This is my real photo
{edit} actually, I am on the road and do not have IT (my daughter) to help me load a pic. I found a family pic, put it on word, cropped it to size...but when I save it to my pics it stays the full family pic, and word won't let me save it to paint? any help? Then you all can see my sorry arse at the world table.

All I could choose for a religion was a big question mark. Discouraged me from looking at it further. They need a choice for ZION. lol

Good point, NL.
Re: The World Table: Already a Failure?
I've given up on Wade (I know, I'm a slow learner). Generally, if someone tells me they don't appreciate a pejorative label I have used, intentionally or otherwise, I try very hard not to use that again. Not Wade. He doubles down, as if he's spotted a weakness.
So, once again, Wade earns a spot on the ignore list. At some point, unwarranted sneering ceases to be entertaining.

This whole World Table thing sounds like Facebook for Morons.

Thus far, there are some interesting folks over there, and it's surprisingly less LDS-dominated than I expected.

Meh. From what I've heard here, sounds like just another website to argue over, except with the fun of ratings.

I dunno. I'm sure it has its attraction to some. For me, the jury is still out. It is heartening to know, however, that other people agree with me about certain people's "contributions."

Re: The World Table: Already a Failure?
I think the world table was either create for:
a) gather intel on critics
b) get revenge on critics
Wait a minute. Are you saying the worldtable.org website was started by the LDS Church? Because that isn't what I understood from the notes posted here: http://www.maxwellinstituteblog.org/liv ... ce-part-2/
Q: Who originating, running, the site?
A:Originated under Foundations for Interreligious diplomacy, a small organization that is trying to make chapters for various faiths, etc. Idea is to model civil disagreement and discussion. where people become friends, etc. Not ecumenical in the sense of trying to merge traditions, but to learn to speak frankly openly fairly and respectfully about their similarities and differences.
The first thing I noticed on the front page is that one of the regular members posting on the table is Dr. Albert Mohler, the president of the Southern Baptist Theological seminary.
But I can see why Dan would prefer all online members migrate over to World Table. It definitely gives them more opportunity to have controlled discussions where they can have all critical responses blocked.
Sandra Tanner recently complained because Facebook blocked her from posting on her own wall because a slew of Mormons got together and protested what she was saying!
She sent an email out to some of us saying:
"Some zealous people are continually flagging Facebook entries as violating Facebook standards. My Facebook page Utah Lighthouse Ministry just got banned, again, for an old post where I linked to an article about Smith and the kabalah--I didn't even offer an opinion. I guess that's next to pornography."
So I don't think it is the anti-anonymous thing that they love, so much as it is their ability to suppress other voices, via incessant complaining. There is a rich tradition of this sort of thing in Mormonism.
