Re: The World Table: Already a Failure?
Scratch that theory, I just saw that Foundations for Interreligious Diplomacy is actually operated by a couple of Mormon guys.
I get a kick out any attempt by Dan to appear interested in inter-religious dialogue of any sort. The guy is a gadfly who has been using the existence of Mormon criticism for personal gain. Mostly to gratify his own narcissistic needs.

The World Table is pretty great. They handle bookings for all the major art fairs as well as put together great eating and drinking itineraries.

One of the things The World Table does is provide a forum of credibility in addition to civility for people engaging each other over divisive topics. It dawned on me over the weekend that one of the things that contributes or detracts from credibility is the profile photo people use. Your use of Alfred E. Neuman from MAD sends a message that detracts from what you want to accomplish with a high score at TWT. For that reason I need to rate you much lower. Please consider replacing it and putting a photo of yourself on your profile as a step toward full disclosure, transparency, and credibility. Thanks.
Really? This muckety muck "had" to pop into the discussion to rate Mark based on his photo?
Not interested.
For a bunch of angst ridden culture warriors who decry the hobgoblin of “Political Correctness” they sure have internalized the concepts and can apply them with vigor. I really get a kick out of the popularity contest with this whole rating system they dreamed up. This whole finger wagging paragraph is like Mike Judge from Office Space lecturing Jennifer Aniston about not wearing enough flair on her uniform.

Can essentially be read as:
People can get a cheeseburger anywhere, ok? They come to Chotchkie's for the atmosphere and the attitude. That's what the flair's about. It's about fun..Look, we want you to express yourself, ok? If you think the bare minimum is enough, then ok. But some people choose to wear more and we encourage that, ok? You do want to express yourself, don't you?

I attempted to register, but I never received the confirmation email. Maybe I was weeded out as a potential troublemaker.

Wow. Good grief.
It reminds me of a saying of my old professor, Hugh Nibley:
"Hell is like Disneyland: a lot of nicely dressed Mormons telling you where to sit and when to laugh."

I had the same problem until I got the email of an administrator. If you want it, I'm happy to send it.

No, thanks. If they can't get their act together, they don't need the further burden of my presence.

The place would be a lot more interesting with you there.

Is this the goal of posters on TWT -- a "high score"? This is like a junior high popularity contest. A place like that is doomed to failure.Brad Hudson wrote:A Mod on TWT wrote:Your use of Alfred E. You just say that because you don't have a 100, like I do.
