Re: Latest numbers from the Interpreter Foundation
I haven't watched TV at all for about twenty years. I try to google enough about current shows, when I hear about them, to not be totally out of touch. I think I can generally pass for just being somewhat behind. YouTube is great for giving the best scenes in short clips. I'm aware that lots of stuff on TV is really great but I just found that for every great five minutes I generally watched an hour of mediocre stuff, and so far I haven't been convinced that the situation has changed. Once I'm in the TV-watching state I'm too passive to get up and do something else once the great scene is past; I sit there watching even when it's outright lousy in the hope that something good will still come. So I just don't start, and now I can't imagine how I could possibly fit two hours of TV per day into my life. My plan is to binge-watch the best stuff from four decades after I retire.
Anyway I looked up the Ms Rafferty sketches. I can see why the actors themselves couldn't keep straight faces.
"Committee, my ass!" has a ring of truth, though.

Re: Latest numbers from the Interpreter Foundation
I've been slow to report the Interpreter Foundation's numbers for the fourth quarter of 2019. Major expenses: $7,516.56 for technical editing, $16,943.37 for web design, digital publication, and set-up, and $17,300 for Critical Text Project Volume III.
With $17,300 spent on the Critical Text Project during the fourth quarter of 2019, the Interpreter Foundation has spent at least $263,889.65 on the project. To put this figure into more concrete terms, I am reliably informed that a one-time donation of $260,000 from the Interpreter Foundation to Ensign Peak Advisors would inspire the Brethren to reverse the Maxwell Institute Purge of 2012 and restore the Institute to its former power and glory.
The Foundation reports that volunteers donated time valued at a record-setting $66,820 during the quarter. The Executive Board* alone donated a remarkable 1,095.5 hours of editing, reviewing, and writing.
------------
*The makeup of the Executive Board is unclear.

The Witnesses film project...still not being reported...

Thanks for the update Tom.
Re: Latest numbers from the Interpreter Foundation
The Interpreter Foundation has released its expenses report for the first quarter of 2020. Major expenses: $13,600 for web design, digital publication, and set-up; $8,217.61 for “Conferences - Books - Annual Operating Expenses” (did the Foundation make up a new expense category for this quarter?); and $16,350 for Critical Text Project Volume III. Grand total: $45,258.85.
With $16,350 spent on the Critical Text Project during the first quarter of 2020, the Interpreter Foundation has spent at least $280,239.65 on the project.
In other news, I am pleased to report that the Interpreter Foundation has added a new member to its board of trustees: Dr. Jeffrey D. Lindsay. It’s nice to see someone without an ancient studies background represented on the board.
Did you know that the Interpreter Foundation has a mission statement? Here it is:

I am not making this up. To continue:Mission Statement
Supporting The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints through scholarship.
The Interpreter Foundation supports the Church in the following ways:
Promotion: We provide tools to encourage and facilitate personal learning by study and faith, and disseminate accurate information to the public about the Church.
Explanation: We make the results of relevant scholarship more accessible to non-specialists.
Defense: We respond to misunderstandings and criticisms of Church beliefs, policies, and practices.
Faithfulness: Our leadership, staff, and associates strive to follow Jesus Christ and be true to the teachings of His Church.
What? What is Interpreter ghost editor A. Wyatt’s academic discipline? Do those standards include proper attribution?Scholarship: Our leadership, staff, and associates incorporate standards of scholarship appropriate to their academic disciplines.

Re: Latest numbers from the Interpreter Foundation
The entire whole theme of apologetics demonstrates that the Holy Ghost and the Spirit of Jesus and revelation are not doing their jobs. What a complete canard. The God Almighty, all knowing, all loving, all everything needs help since He cannot do t Himself, nor in nearly as good a manner as his own creations with Ph.d's to defend Him from the onslaught of doubts his other children sally forth with which refute His Gospel of Love.
When one actually realizes that apologetics is pure egotistical, one can see easily right through the charade. It is a claim (admission?) that the Gift of the Holy Ghost to all mankind is not enough... it is a claim that Jesus doesn't have the where-with-all to pull it off, it is an admission that Gods have not the foresight, ability, or power to save, but they need help from their own human creations, which are vastly inferior, yet useful. It is the singular most silly display of idiotic faith ever invented, this thing called apologetics. It is entirely, wholesale an absolute absence of faith. Ironic isn't it...

Re: Latest numbers from the Interpreter Foundation
The Interpreter Foundation has released its expenses report for the second quarter of 2020. Major expenses: $17,932 for web design, digital publication, and set-up; $2,700 for technical editing; and an astounding $20,850 for Critical Text Project Volume III. Grand total: $44,425.87.
The Interpreter Foundation has now spent at least $301,089.65 on Volume III. To put this figure into more concrete terms, I am reliably informed that $300,000 covers the cost of two guests to join an unforgettable Cruise Lady trip from Nauvoo to Provo this October to see the premiere of Witnesses. (Guests will travel by pulling deluxe handcarts and dine on hardtack and buffalo jerky along the trail.)
For those keeping score at home, the Book of Mormon Critical Text Project is now in its 33rd year. Here is what is reportedly forthcoming:
In other news, I regret to report that I don't have any updates regarding the publication of the festschrift in honor of Dr. Midgley. Perhaps a certain individual or group of individuals are carrying on a campaign to have the book suppressed.

A Complete Electronic Collation of the Book of Mormon, volume 5 of the Book of Mormon Critical Text Project (FARMS and BYU Studies).
