Shades, did you ever get your pant leg caught up in the front gear set? I know I did. Even with a velco cuff thingy, which fell off from time to time.

Billowy skirts, gears, chains and spokes is a recipe for disaster.

Then again as a missionary on a bike I was intentionally riding through creeks, bombing 4 foot drops, slamming stairs and what not. Have to keep myself entertained.

Cruising down a hill at a good clip and entangling that skirt will result in a lot of lost skin.

Mine never got stuck, but it did get chewed up little by little.

The sisters never had a problem with that, to my knowledge, because all Japanese schoolgirls are required to wear similar billowy dresses as part of their school uniforms, so all girls' bikes come off the assembly line with their chains fully enclosed by metal covers.

Sister Missionaries should not be riding on bikes. All Sister Missioners should be given a car to drive and ride in. The Church can easily afford to do that.
