Let's cut Joseph some slack

Pious, powerful oversexed people seem common in religion. It might be a sign of his prophetic calling?

Bakker, Swaggart, Haggard. Aimee Semple MacPherson. Eddie Long. And so on and on and on.

Is it a sign of an alpha human? Is that why there were Biblical patriarchs with vast numbers of partners and offspring? Was it a sociobiological trick that became institutionalized?

Arctic fox
The arctic fox (Vulpes lagopus), also known as the white fox, polar fox, or snow fox, is a small fox native to the Arctic regions of the Northern Hemisphere and is common throughout the Arctic tundra biome. It is well adapted to living in cold environments.

Am I offtopic?
Genes.
Arctic fox breeders selected their foxes for pliableness. They got pets even to be called by name.
It was only a ten-year project.
Then, the foxes' changed the colour of their fur.

--------------------------------------------
Now, I am on topic.

The gene of superregilious and the gene of oversexed are the same.

... at least history says us as such ...

Have you checked the children? What about the marriage relationships that didn't seem to exist between Joseph Smith and many of the women he was sealed to?

LOL I had to laugh in the other thread when you ran away after I showed how you are dishonest on this issue.

Every time you post this (which is often since you've got nothing else), I want to ask: "Checked them for what???"

Also, didn't you just state in another thread that there is nothing wrong with having sex in a polygamous relationship?

Another one of those conundrums. Just fine for BY to have sex with his polyandrous wives, but for some reason the apologists feel they have to defend Joseph Smith on this one in a way that contradicts their mantra on Book of Mormon evidence.

He has even admitted he thinks Joseph did have sex with some of them. He doesn't even try to hide his dishonesty on this subject.

When it comes to this particular subject--highly-sexual religious leaders--I think religion is a subset of a much larger category of males (because "highly-sexual religious leader" usually does correlate with "male").

The much larger category would include cults in general (could be religious, self-help, political, etc.)...it would include politicians...it would include males in command positions within a nation's armed forces...it would include those at the top of "ladders" (CEO's, etc.)...it would include yoga and other kinds of physical training instructors...

I think religion is often, comparatively, low-hanging fruit for those males who cannot succeed in the other basic categories because they don't have the intelligence, the knowledge, the skills, or the talent to rise to the top in the other categories (with the obvious exceptions: yoga instructors often do quite well sexually with their students...and they often do fantastically well--near the top of this particular scale--if their career percentage of "successes" were taken into consideration).

Other than a robust sex drive, I don't know what the commonality is among the disparate groups of males who are well known for doing this (the range is from the head of state of a major world country, down to a local neighborhood physical trainer), but it's there.

Any theories???

Have you not yet learned that sex often does not result in children?

Have you checked the Lyons child?

I don't know that you can really compare the biblical patriarchs to the modern ones in this sense. During the biblical period, polygamy was a cultural norm.
