GOLD BUTTE, Nevada — Amid a dispute between ranchers and the Bureau of Land Management, the desecration of a grave in the area may have gone unnoticed.

The damage done to a grave in the Gold Butte ghost town was discovered April 18 by an outdoor enthusiast, according to the Las Vegas Review Journal. She said the dirt appeared to still be fresh when she arrived, but the exact time of the robbery is unknown.

“It looks like they burrowed right into the coffin for sure,” BLM archaeologist Mark Boatwright told the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “They were probably looking for historic artifacts.”

One thing I appreciate about bc is he can be counted on to illuminate right-wing political tropes through defense. I'm not sure why the idea black Americans are enslaved AND made idol and listless by the welfare state, thus they would be better off as working slaves on a plantation, is popping up recently. The Duck Dynasty fellow snuck this into his rant earlier, too. I have to imagine it's getting airtime from someone. But you can always count on bc to make it clear it isn't a one off comment by a racist nut who just happens to be ultra-conservative.

I don't think they are willing to acknowledge to themselves that what they believe is inherently racist. He isn't lying outright when he says that. Which is why he keeps asking about the man's views.

He understands that racist is a term of social condemnation that he wasn't want to be hit with, nor he thinks applies. Racists virtually never think they're racists. The term is loaded with the implication that a person has bigoted views on race, which the racist doesn't think they have. They think their views are sensible.

I used to subscribe to The National Review which helped keep up with what flavor-of-the-month was hot in the conservative world. This idea that slavery is better than the welfare state because "at least they weren't idol and had cohesive family units" that's popping up in more and more public arenas when an unscripted right-winger gets some air-time is interesting.

Completely prone to blow-back but possibly funny for a Bill Maher-type joke about getting out voters to participate in a primary election: Just put mikes in front of the extreme right constituents. Let that play for 30-45 seconds, then have text appear on the screen, "These are the people that selected your candidate in the last primary. Tell me why Washington is broken again?"
