Personally, I'd rather the kind of mocking that admits it's mocking. Some might say that dogmatically condemning people based on a caricature of their belief is a far worse form of mockery.

No, some might say that mocking is similar to the post above.

Ceeboo doesn't come across as mean-spirited.

Ceeboo was just pointing out, in a graphic way, how your comments come across to us. He wasn't mocking you, he was illustrating you.

In all the posts in several threads that you have been involve with in the last few days, have you noticed that no one, from any side of the spectrum, has supported your views?

You should take that to heart.
This, or any other post that I have made or will make in the future, is strictly my own opinion and consequently of little or no value.

What's obvious to just about everyone is the difference between those who are concerned about our eternal salvation and those who need to be right.

Servant wrote:The only people who go to Hell are those who reject the Gospel. God sends no person to Hell, they send themselves. I believe there are some people in the Mormon Church who are Christians, and who for various reasons find themselves in the LDS, but who love God. You see, all who God calls, will come to Jesus. It's not our place to tell anybody if they are a sheep - God alone knows His sheep, and they follow Jesus' voice, and a stranger they do not follow.

Catherine,

LoL...Didn't you just scold me for saying this a few weeks ago?

It's certainly difficult to pin her down. On the one hand she's been telling us how important it is to our eternal salvation to reject Mormon heresy, but at the same time she's saying it's entirely possible to be saved while holding to heretical beliefs. If you're going to be that dogmatic, you should at least be consistent. Just saying.

To be fair to her, she would not agree that a person could be saved holding to heretical beliefs, nor would I. My guess is that if she broke it down it would be that if a younger kid, believing in Christ was being forced to go to a LDS church, they could be a Christian, or a woman in a abusive marriage where the husband makes her go.

My view is, as we discussed at the WT, is that LDS theology is not Christian theology...God decides who a Christian is. I don't in anyway shape or form believe a person can believe they can have the same power and knowledge of God, and be a Christian, or that someone can earn or pay for Christ's suffering...like I said God makes Christians, people don't. John 1:13.

Well, we disagree, then. I think it's obvious that LDS theology is not orthodox or mainstream theology, but it is a Christian theology. I've always thought that a just God wouldn't care if you got the details wrong, as long as you trusted in the Savior to save you from sin.

I think about my wife. Does she believe she can have the same power and knowledge that God does? I don't know that she's ever thought of it. I go back to my Mormon days, and I don't think I ever believed that. Does she believe she can earn or pay for Christ's suffering? No, and neither did I when I was a believing Mormon. In fact, I don't know many Mormons who believe they earn or pay for Christ's suffering, though I'm told by several Christians that Mormons are supposed to believe that.

Oh, well. I'm still trying to figure out if I believe in God at all, so worrying about who is a real Christian isn't high on my list of priorities.
