Servant wrote:Interesting that your family was part of Rigdon's congregation in Kirtland. They've been in the Church then for a very long time.
Yes, they have.
And no, I don't think your wife is going to burn in hell!
Then I don't understand why you're so opposed to Mormonism. Only Christians can be saved, and you've said repeatedly that Mormons are not Christians. The reason for them not being Christians is their rejection of the Trinity. Now you're saying that my wife's salvation may not depend on whether she believes in the Trinity. So, either she's a Christian because she has abiding faith in Christ, or she's not.

Help me out here.
I don't know your wife. I know the Mormon I prayed with when she as dying is now with the Lord. I don't think theological expertise is a requirement of salvation. God judges us on what we know. John 15:22 (Jesus says): If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin.
I'm sure your wife is a wonderful, loving individual. It appears you love her dearly. That's wonderful. Now, do you love God? What have YOU done with Jesus?
If you ever meet someone interested in Christianity, DO NOT, under any circumstance, tell them about this thread!
Ever!

Hi Pal!
That is funny!
It is a strange thread. Despite Servant's disagreeable admonishments to people who are mostly no longer Mormons, we should all thank her for sparking this very interesting discussion.
A reminder that the real problems religions have to deal with are some of it's staunchest defenders (whatever their faith).
Servant has made it unclear which denomination she fully identifies with, but I'll bet that ministers from both of those she attends would ask her to please go and defend someone else.
This, or any other post that I have made or will make in the future, is strictly my own opinion and consequently of little or no value.

Mormons are not Arians, like JWs. We do not reject the divinity of Jesus. You may accuse us of being polytheists, but we preach the divinity of Jesus, and the Book of Mormon calls Him God.

Arians believe Jesus was a creature created by another God. How does Mormonism not teach that? If Jesus was simply some kind of celestial offspring, as was Lucifer, how do you reconcile that with non-Arianism? If Jesus and Lucifer are brothers, how is Jesus Almighty God? Mormons have redefined the Trinity.

Runtu, you know you're not supposed to be hiding Jesus. Put him back where you found him.

Yes, in addition to the thread being both strange and interesting, it is also alarmingly sad on so many levels. (in my opinion)

While I certainly agree with you, I would not limit these "problems" to only religious folks , I would suggest that these "problems" both encompass and indeed accurately reflect how human beings judge/condemn/rate/measure/opine in, towards and about other human beings across the entire human race. As surely as this has happened throughout history, it most surely continues to happen in our day - and as unfortunate as it is - it will surely continue to happen in the future.

Be careful! I wouldn't bet too much on that, friend! I really wouldn't!
