Thanks for the detailed research once again. Unfortunately I don't have much expertise in this area, but one thing I can tell you:

But Crandall gets a free pass does he? Am I not entitled to point out bad science when I see it used to prove a religious claim? The entire reason for my post was to attack Crandall's bad interpretation of science to prove a religious claim. But you don't like that Tobin because it happens to be your religion.
It is abundantly clear that Crandall got the science wrong. The admixed DNA in the Maya is not derived from the Middle East. The Hellenthal study on the same 21 Mayans proves that conclusively.

I didn't say he gets a free pass Simon. As I said, if you are simply offering your opinion, then you should extend Crandall the same courtesy. And if he is mistaken, you are welcome to let him know about the mistake. However, as I said, he is not doing this in a professional scientific setting and it is up to him to correct his statements if he wishes. He is also free not to do so if he so chooses. You shouldn't be drumming up support for censure from his peers.

What scientific setting am I correcting him in? How am I drumming up support for censure from his peers?
