I make an end of my writing upon these plates, which writing has been small; and to the reader I bid farewell, hoping that many of my brethren may read my words. Brethren, adieu.

Hmmm. Who here believes that Mormonism is "true", that it's octogenarian mall builders ensconsed safely out of sight in comfortable homes and condos are the middle-men between you and an absent, silent God?

Just a raise of hands so we can see who actually believes. Anyone? No one? So if this asinine religion known as Mormonism with its cult-like indoctrinations and medieval views of the world is not "true", what exactly, why exactly does anyone care that a person is excommunicated from this man made fabrication?

I am cheering her excommunication the same way that I cheer to see the prison convict, wrongfully convicted of a crime not committed, released from jail.

Anyone who sheds a tear fully deserves Mormonism and its emotional/spiritual abuse. Trumpets ought to blare cheerily celebrating the freedom of another soul.

BB, my sincere apologies for the slight derail coming.

All, I really hope this isn't offensive to anyone (not my intention) but this entire cluster-frick has my blood pressure elevated.

So, let me see if I got this right:
Kate is going to just sit there while some dudes cast their judgement upon her and they will decide if she is worthy enough to continue to participate in the LDS Church?

Is that freaking right?!

On what planet is this okay with the spouse? Friends? Other Mormons? Human beings?

WTF!

Sorry for the rant!

Craziness!

i hear your rant, ceeboo. but it is a narrative and not based on the facts. sure, a woman railroaded by men while just trying to do the right is a sad sad thing. but this ain't that. and any shock that this is happening, is feigned. the shock and surprise is just her part of the campaign. if she is really surprised by this, she is delusional.
"Rocks don't speak for themselves" is an unfortunate phrase to use in defense of a book produced by a rock actually 'speaking' for itself... (I have a Question, 5.15.15)

More Hmmmmm???????

Thanks, I was just going off the letter (Extremely sad, in my opinion) I read in the OP.

Then........... I started thinking about putting us (Ceeboo and Mrs. Ceeboo) in those shoes. Well, let's just say it would be an extremely cold day in hell before I would allow this type of 'circus' to run wild on my bride! Thus the rant!

My apologies!

Hey Ceeboo,

Well, normally that is pretty close to the way it is done. The person being summoned to the "Court of Love" may submit evidence on their behalf, and/or have someone there who will support them and "be on their side". This also normally takes place in the stake/city where you reside.

What is odd about the Kelly case is that she had moved away from her ward in DC. From what I understand she is currently living with her parents in Utah. Normally when you leave one area for another location, your church membership records follow you to your new location. From what I have read, she requested her records be sent to her parents ward in Utah. This request was denied. Now follow me here...church membership records (according to the Church Handbook of Instructions) are to be kept in the ward where the member lives. Exceptions require the consent of the bishops, stake presidents, AND the approval of THE FIRST PRESIDENCY. This would be the SAME First Presidency that church spokespeople are claiming have had no influence on this entire matter (Yeah...right).

Because they waited for Kelly to have moved away, and they won't transfer her records to her new ward in Utah (where the court SHOULD be held), she won't "just sit there" while her case is heard. She won't even be there!!

To further turn the knife in the back of the Kelly family, her PARENTS have been released from their church callings and have been stripped of their temple recommends. Their crime?? They supported their daughter rather than abandoning her. But hey, its ALL ABOUT FAMILY.

It is all sick, twisted, and bizarre. One can only imagine how it must look from an outsiders perspective. When I was growing up in the church, member used to pride themselves on being a "peculiar people". At least that is one thing that hasn't changed.

From the AP

Mormon officials aren't discussing Kelly's case specifically. They say that there is room for questions and sincere conversations about the faith, but that some members' actions "contradict church doctrine and lead others astray."

Sure....right. Of course they aren't.

Sick, twisted, and bizarre (I would add sad) is an extremely accurate description of how this outsider sees it!
