from the perspective of a tbm Mormon, there is not a lot of difference between dehlin and by common consent. or dehlin and and times and seasons. they are just the internet. he is just publishing interviews and hosting stuff online. no difference to them between this board and Mormon stories. just anti-mormon internet hosts.
from a tbm perspective, kate kelly is satan.
Based on the limited conversations my TBM wife and I have had this past week, to her John Dehlin and Kate Kelly are joined at the hip. Perhaps she was posturing because she expected him to be excommunicated as well and will change her tune if he is not. I don't know how representative she is of TBM's as a whole, but she doesn't seem to think that differently of them. It seems to her, neither of them inspires faith in the church and that's all she needs to know.

the trib is hosting conversations with Mormon feminists about kate kelly, her movement, and her court. the deseret news is covering it closely. any conversations about dehlin were a response to an article in the ny times where he initiated and tied himself to kelly as co-defendant. he was never even summoned to a court, and now he is diminished in the press's interest. that will continue to slide, and there is no incentive to ramp it up.
You raise a good point about the church not wanting to ramp up more negative media attention if it's dying down, but they braved the bad press for Kate Kelly and if they see John Dehlin as too much of a negative I think they would be willing to brave the bad press again.
