Well, Live and Learn. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

Hey SP!
Really?
What "parts of Christianity" would those be?
Clearly, there are Christians who hold grudges (Just like there are individual actors in any/all groups who hold grudges) but I'm not aware of any "parts of Christianity that appeal to those who hold grudges."
What is the appeal?
Peace,
Ceeboo

Growing up, a neighboring family included our stake president. Our families were friends until about the time I graduated high school and headed off for college. About that time, the social association ended. The stake president has since died. My mother ran across his widow at the local mall a couple of years later. The SP's widow, in her 80s, remarked how she hoped, given as much in life as she has foregone, that the LDS teachings are true and that she'll get a reward in the hereafter. Imagine if there is an afterlife and eternal rewards are meted out, and hers is no greater than what is received by others, those that enjoyed life to its fullest? The injustice of it all--'No one should be forgiven for any more sinning than me. Let's keep score, with grudges and all else that comes with it.'
Great post, sock. Unfortunately it does seem there is a common thread of revenge and holding grudges among a certain segment of Mormonism. This is a clearly held mantra with the Mopologists.
Whether writing hit pieces on Dehlin, attacking Metcalf, Quinn or countless others, the Mopologists relish this type of behavior.
It's sad and shows their lack of understanding the Savior and His teachings.

Judgment day and different rewards. If everyone gets the same reward, then why not make hay while the sun shines? So, there are those that refrain from certain conduct hoping to get a bigger reward than others. If they believed we'll all get the same reward, then what's the motivation to refrain from doing whatever comes to mind?
by the way, keep in mind I noted: "(Not implying that all Christian aficionados are grudge-holders; other aspects appeal to other people as well.)"

I think it is those for whom "the Church" and "the Brethren" are the penultimate of their fealty, more so than the message (the Gospel) or god (the source of the message).

What ever became of the original story DCP is posting about. I remember the original controversy but not the conclusion. I assume that Everybody Wang Chung lied about being on DCP's tour?

It seems so. DCP was able to confirm, apparently, that there was no bishop or former bishop on that tour, yet Everybody Wang Chung claimed to be a current bishop and, in one post somewhere, claimed to have overheard an anti-Semitic (or anti-Islamic, I can't recall which but it is somewhere on this board) joke DCP made in Israel on the tour.
Everybody Wang Chung and Scratch then took DCP to task for using Church records to ascertain the church assignments of tour guests, but he didn't do that. He asked somebody else, probably a current bishop, to look at the church directory that every bishop gets. (Probably at the time it was an on-line directory; I am used to seeing the hard copies the bishops get and then the DVD.)
I personally believe that Everybody Wang Chung is our former Gulag friend's sockpuppet, but then again I think Scratch is a committee, not a person.

He's in the room. What say you, Bishop?

... or he lied about being a bishop .. or both.
If you get caught lying, man up, and take your lumps.
Same goes for Peterson and the Spencer Lake horse and the second Watson letter.
