The Church teaches nothing except it's own official doctrine. See how long you remain a member in good standing (assuming you currently are) by standing in front of your local ward building on Sunday morning warning parents that what their children learn in Primary isn't doctrine.
I don't stand outside the Church. I go inside and teach the correct doctrine.

What specific doctrine on this issue does the Church teach that conflicts with the temple or the scriptures?
You seem to have a short memory. We are discussing the only begotten Son. And again, it does not say in the scriptures in the flesh. Nor has the current practice of sealing so we can become Celestial beings to form spirit children ceased to be practiced. Where do you suppose those spirit children go? To worlds like ours because we too are the children of Celestial beings.
I know you think you understand Mormonism bcspace, but in some ways you are rather ignorant of it.

Which, come to think of it, may have been answered. Maybe God was in the neighborhood that day anyway and decided he'd get a jump on his prayer-answering list for the next couple of decades and popped in to Tobin to say, "Stop it!" then went on his merry way, checking off the many, many boxes. "Elders Jones, Alexander, Clark, Murphy, Bentley, Juarez, Twitchell, Adams, Frank, etc., etc., asking 'Please make him stop!!'
"Check, check AND check!"
Which goes to show omniscience and that whole "eternal round" thing with time God has going on can really be a bitch. Or, Sitcom fodder for celestial programming directors. Take your pick.
This makes more sense than anything Tobin has ever said.

Fail. So far, the 'essays' haven't changed any doctrine.

Of course they have. You know they have. Proof left to ostrich.

bcspace wrote:No, I think it's pretty consistent that Mormons believe God was (and is) a man. It's just that the Prophet got a little mixed up and wasn't sure if Mormons taught that. Give him a break, he was pretty old.
Actually, it seems more like he wasn't initially sure if he should cast pearls before swine, preferring instead to teach milk before the meat.
Again, you're saying Hinckley preferred to teach milk before meat. He answered something to the effect of, "I don't know that we teach that". How is that teaching something?
