The walkout started shortly before 1 p.m. and lasted for a little more than 30 minutes. Students gathered across the street from the school, but dispersed to go home after learning that they were being counted as truant from classes.

Richards-Khong said the walkout would be classified as any other unexcused absence.

They had their thirty minutes in the sun.

Looks like this issue is on the plate in other areas of the country too:

The line has to be drawn somewhere. It's good that the conversation seems to be taking place out in the open and that adults are also taking a stand on what they think is right. Too many adults are often wishy washy or undecided on where the line should be drawn.

Regards,
MG

Perhaps, also, too many adults are often clueless on where the line reasonably could be drawn.

... Mormon dress standards ...

These people (to be accurate: the ones who have created THAT standards) are ill.
I have no better definition. GA is a synonym.

In the 50s years, in Hungary --- You know, during the era of HARD socialism --- the beard was the symbol of opposition. Policemen have kept after young men for it.
Sounds familiar? I do not make parallels, only detect them...

I don't want to repeat myself. Please read viewtopic.php?p=844706#p844706 ...

This Mormonizing of the dress code is a means of hastening the work and ensuring that the future backs and underarms of the female students are rendered garment worthy. What could possibly be wrong with that? If other areas of the country are hep to what we in Utah are trying to accomplish, then they too will be part of the golden marketing demographics for Burkas-R-Us.

My understanding of why Mormonism counsels against beards is for the same reason, it was seen as a symbol of Marxism or something like that.

Craig, please can you post a warning about your link? I opened it, saw naked shoulders and now I have to go see my Bishop....

Ahem...
"beards" mean something against...

Even BY and VIU --- VIU? don't You know these letters?

The hair face seems to be decreasing in Mormon church.

My Dear Bazooka,

Please accept my deepest apologies for my insensitivity in exposing you to the evil influence of the exposed shoulders of women found in that link. I personally know how naked shoulders can drive we men crazy at the sight of bare female flesh, tantalizingly peeking out below a hemline or a cap sleeve let alone a bare shoulder. It was inconsiderate of me not to have placed a warning notice when I posted that link…a link that needlessly exposed you and others to the enticing influences of bare exposed female shoulders…it’s difficult enough when these images dance across our minds but to have them there before our very eyes in picture form…ogling and beguiling us…Oh the depth of the shame I feel for placing you and others in a situation where you were exposed to these evil influences…I am forever sorry.

Craig

PS: Hopefully this will help you get those other images out of you mind... Image

**BREAKING NEWS**

Dateline September 23,2014 Salt Lake City, Utah The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be issuing new "Priesthood Power" Trainers to all men above the age of 12 at their semiannual General Conference Preisthood Session this October. The new trainers are designed to help members of the priesthood overcome their evil male desire to look at bare female shoulders and other inappropriate material such as exposed female arms and ankles. Trainers will come in both Aaronic and Melchizedek models.

Although initial group tests of the new “Priesthood Power” Trainers at BYU-I however have proved less than effective…as many males have continued to over-ride their PPT devices to catch a glimse of a coed's ankles…it is hoped that loving priesthood leaders will be able to make periodic adjustments to the harness to keep priesthood members Obedient ie (fixing head from turning left or right, Up or down) to the whims of their priesthood leaders. All in favor say Yes.
