I can think of no better method of paving the way for Romney than issuing official Church publications admitting Joseph Smith married a 14-year old girl when he was in his mid-thirties.

While already married! The already married part of the story is the kick to the church's nads' that goes far beyond an older single man marrying a single young woman.
