So where is the Apology?

Post by _Mormonicious »

Given the release of the Essays, where is the Mormon church's Apology to those individuals that told the truth about Horny Holy Joe and his Magic religion? The ones branded as "Anti-Mormon" and vilified by the Mormon membership and supporters.

Where is the Deseret News and Church News article expressing regret and apologizing for the verbal attacks against such people as Jerold and Sandra Tanner or Eber D Howe and his relatives?

Where is the admission of error in hiding the truth and attacking those who simply told the truth?

Isn't confessing and restoration part of Repentance? Can the Mormon church ever gain repentance without the confession?

After all, the Mormon corporation and its media outlets crap all over themselves whenever someone or something apologizes to them about a perceived wrong done to the Mormon corporation;

In the file cabinet right next to the apology for 130 some odd years of systematic racism. The apologies to gays, and the apologies for misogyny will be added to that file.

Which being interpreted means: they don't exist and likely never will.

Some of us, on the other hand, actually prefer a religion that includes some type of correlation with reality.

apology
1. A statement of acknowledgment expressing regret or asking pardon: excuse, mea culpa, regret (used in plural). See regret/impenitence.
2. A statement that justifies or defends something, such as a past action or policy: apologetic, apologia, defense, justification, vindication. See attack/defend.

In the Mormon vocabulary the first definition is unknown.

by the way there is no "apology" entry in LDS.org > Scriptures > Study Helps > Bible Dictionary
- Whenever a poet or preacher, chief or wizard spouts gibberish, the human race spends centuries deciphering the message. - Umberto Eco
- To assert that the earth revolves around the sun is as erroneous as to claim that Jesus was not born of a virgin. - Cardinal Bellarmine at the trial of Galilei

Yeah, shouldn't be apologizing to William Law? That poor guy's name has been dragged though the mud for years and years and turns out he was telling the truth the whole time.

Yeah, maybe the LDS Church ought to make amends for destroying the Nauvoo Expositor by giving Deseret News and Bonneville Communications to Law's descendants.

I think M. Quinn is deserving of an apology along with W. Law.

Can you find an example of a Church leader apologising on behalf of the Church and using the word "sorry"?
