It is totally brilliant.
“When we are confronted with evidence that challenges our deeply held beliefs we are more likely to reframe the evidence than we are to alter our beliefs. We simply invent new reasons, new justifications, new explanations. Sometimes we ignore the evidence altogether.” (Mathew Syed 'Black Box Thinking')

From the very beginning, proxy stuff was done for money. People had to PAY to do proxy baptisms just like they paid for patriarchal blessings.

The Extraction Program was put into place to harvest names for members to use to return to the temple over and over again.

Temples are too expensive to have just sit there unused.

Here are some, specifically Mormon scripture where it's written:

For if there be no Christ there be no God; and if there be no God we are not, for there could have been no creation. But there is a God, and he is Christ, and he cometh in the fulness of his own time. (2 Nephi 11:7)

Listen to the voice of Jesus Christ, your Lord, your God, and your Redeemer, whose word is quick and powerful. (D&C 27:1)

And I, Jesus Christ, your Lord and your God, have spoken it. (D&C 18:33)

And as I spake concerning the convincing of the Jews, that Jesus is the very Christ, it must needs be that the Gentiles be convinced also that Jesus is the Christ, the Eternal God; (2 Nephi 26:12)

And for good measure, let's add a very trinitarian view to the mix:

And now, behold, my beloved brethren, this is the way; and there is none other way nor name given under heaven whereby man can be saved in the kingdom of God. And now, behold, this is the doctrine of Christ, and the only and true doctrine of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, which is one God, without end. Amen. (2 Nephi 31:21)

I'd rather be a could-be if I cannot be an are; because a could-be is a maybe who - is reaching for a star. I'd rather be a has-been than a might-have-been, by far; for a might have-been has never been, but a has was once an are. - Milton Berle

I'm sure there's more. The church specifically teaches that Jesus was Jehovah, God in the Old Testament. He was God before earthly birth.

Yeah, I'm a little stunned that Mr. Dog doesn't know the LDS church teaches unequivocally that Jesus was Jehovah, and that Jesus is a god.
