Exponential STD growth rates in Utah, especially in women

The numbers don't lie, and gonorrhea rates jumped nearly 400 percent from 2011-2014. Men have seen a 300 percent increase, while rates among women have surged an incredible 714 percent.
Joel Hartsell of the Utah State Health Department is working with his team to figure out why. They're using new questionnaires for people who test positive for STDs, for example, but that is only a piece of the puzzle.
In a short amount of time, he says, 40 percent of males claim anonymous sex, but only 7 percent of females do. Yet the largest increase is among females, he says, those numbers could be read and skewed to fit many different theories.
Beltran believes the best start to lowering STD rates is protection. "The biggest thing we are not doing is promoting personal responsibility around our sexual well being," she says. “People are not educated and think things like, 'STDs are only in that population I don't associate with.’ That’s not true. Nobody is exempt from being exposed to an STD when you are sexually active."

Everyone one knows that the best way to avoid young people having unprotected sex, catching sexually transmitted infections, and getting pregnant in their teens is to ensure that all they learn at school is that they should not have sexual relations before they are married.
It always works just fine!

pretty much sums it up right there.
what the hell is anonymous sex? is everyone blindfolded? or does this just mean one does not have to show their ID at the motel door?
is it anonymous if one party does not know the other's name? or do both parties need to not have that information? or, is it anonymous if one tells the other person to STFU? utah is strange. just damn strange.
this joel dude would do well to just limit his deep thoughts to a few key things - 1) the oozing and burning happen when someone has sex with someone that has the oozing and burning germy thingies; and 2) people, including Mormons and republicans and conservatives and Mormon republican conservatives, have sex as frequently as everyone else. it is the dumbassery that leads to getting the clap and it is the secret lives these people have that lead to sharing it.
that said, big goddamn deal. we are talking about puss not cancer. jesus. in that pill-popping state the solution has got to feel like buying m&ms or skittles compared to getting a container full of opiates to get through a fortnight.
