Joe and the Blacksmith

Post by _Servant »

Mormons forget that Oliver Cowdery had also worked as a blacksmith before hooking up with Joe. It wouldn't be that hard to make up some tin or copper plates wit a few engraving and link them up with hooks. I'm sure Joe used props - and covered them up with cloths so that people didn't look too closely. Joe Smith was a liar par excellence, and people should put nothing past this character - look at what he did with the supposed "papyrus" containing the Book of Breathings incantations, claiming they were written by Abraham. Come on, folks, think.

Wasn't Joseph a cooper as well? I'm pretty sure the family ran a cooper shop (barrel making) so it's not like he wasn't a crafty person. It's part of the trade.

And Cowdery had been accused of associating with counterfeiters, who may have been creating bogus plates for printing.

And don't forget that the Whitmer brothers were into macrame.
