One of the difficulties of dealing with faqs is the ambiguity created by his use of language. You can never quite tell what, if anything he is saying.

Yeah, it's like trying to have a conversation with somebody via Google Translate.

I'm not sure that's the case. I'm pretty aware of what he's saying because it's in black and white. For example, he claims the 249 is issued as a long barrel machine gun, but in reality the standard issue is the short barrel*.

* edited All I can tell you is what I saw what was issued to my units. I happen to have 20 years active service, and about 7 years assigned to USASOC->CAG, and none of those guys modded their SAWs with long barrels**.

V/R
Doc

* I going to have to admit that I don't know what every unit in the Army was issued vis a vis barrel length on the 249. I shouldn't have made a sweeping generalization. So, I'm going to retract my original statement.

** In actuality those guys would stick to pistols and M4s for assaults, but the SAWs in the arms room weren't modded & they were short barrel versions. They have full-time armorers, and you get to know them pretty well. They would show you around the arms rooms, and show you the different mods if you were interested. We were.

This would make a fantastic signature line!

You should probably avoid using highly technical & complicated terms like "same" and "exact" until you fully understand what they mean.

Then please educate me how one actually says something is "almost" the same or "almost" exactly like something else?
Hello McFly.... it's the only way to say it. Any other way is simply florish and style, still saying the same exact thing.

Facksie, do you want to withdraw your statement that you were in the military?

In relation to the SAW's, I showed the pics, my case is clearly demonstrated, so don't know why you all are still ignoring the facts and misrepresenting me.
The "Modern" SAW is apparently based off of experience and soldier needs since the Iraq/Afgan war. I served prior to those wars.
I was simply stating from my own experience that "customized" versions of guns are usually traditional special forces etc., but I also know they have become popular designs for regular forces today AND civilian ownership of them.

The pic I showed was what we used then, during the first gulf war period. It's what I'm familiar with, period.
So, my seeing the M60 from a distance and who cares observation in a Rambo movie as being very similar in design to the SAW I knew is not at all unreasonable. I have no "dog" in this fight..... it's just you idiots want to always find a reason to attack people. I made an offhand comment Rambo's gun looked like a SAW, which it greatly does according to my experience.

So, take it or leave it.

As to my being in the military, I'm not going to dig up and scan and show you my DD214, you can stick it up your butt.
I'm also not going to dig up and "rescan" a couple of me in the Marines pics for you either.
If you missed it when I proved it already, too bad.... cause the pics I scanned are on an older computer, and I'm not going to spend time on it, when it's not going to stop you all from being lying bigots anyway. You will always say what you want, no matter the truth.

Apparently not.

I suggest you start by saying "I was almost a marine" instead of "I was a marine." Because that would be somewhat closer to the truth.

Baby steps, faqs. Baby steps.

The question was in relation to the guns, not whether I was a Marine or not. Pay attention to the conversation.

If you all have such the need, post a thread about whether I was a Marine or not..... several of you saw the pics and can verify it, again, I'm not going to waste my time trying to post them again, they aren't ready available.

He'll do what he always does; put it in quotes......He'll say he "almost" "served" as a "marine" in the "Gulf" but took a "leave".
