They're like Jedi. While outnumbering Cain, the dark side is much more alluring and able to overcome.

I heed the words of the Krugan over Joseph Smith or Jesus.
Priest:
This is a house of God. People are trying to pray. You're disturbing them.
Kurgan:
He cares about these helpless mortals?
Priest:
Of course He cares. He died for our sins.
Kurgan:
That shall be His undoing.

thanx mittens- you make a good case for the apologists to try and overturn but it is very appealing to current Mormons who believe the doctrine was mangled early in or just after Joseph Smith and are looking for "truth".

These four would be important for modern Apostles and Prophets to visit with and learn from.
Why are they ignored?
Well.......I mean..........o.k. to let the cat out of the bag....some things are too sacred for the world, so they keep it hidden. Some truths are not very useful, and God is, after all, hush hush about everything of critical celestial importance. After all, sure he gave up the kiddo for us, but only a very precious select few are really gonna make it so they can bomb us below from their celestial heights and lord it over the rest of us as their eternal reward. It's all going according to plan. Can't let the riff raff in on it, good heavens if there were no secrets things would go amuck and everyone would get a chance at being exalted. What the hell do you think THAT would do to heaven except trash it? Yeah? You seein the logic yet?.......

I would say Jesus refutes you in his story about the rich man and Lazarus, in the story the rich man wanted someone from the dead to tell his brothers what's waiting him. and Abraham said they wouldn't listen to him either. Abraham is proven correct when Lazarus [ Mary's brother was raised from the dead] and sure enough know one cared to believe him even thou he came from the realm of the dead.

John the Baptist lost his head on Herod's order, not James.

Perhaps the three Nephites will be invited to fill the recent vacancies within the Quorum.
That'll really bump up the average age of the sitting members, though.

When Elder Perry visited my mission in the early 90's, in a Q&A one of the missionaries asked him "Where are the three nephites?" Elder Perry responded "How the heck should I know? They don't check in with us!" (read that in an L. Tom Perry voice. It was very funny.)

I love it when Biblical mythical characters and stories are used as proof against the Book of Mormon mythical stories and characters.

If I were the church, just to screw with some folks, I would find three of the biggest, buffest, native American looking guys possible. Then for the upcoming conference, I would pay them, outfit them in the most expensive, finest looking suits, and have them sit in the chairs of the three vacant Q15 members. Just have them sit there silently throughout the meetings. Every now and then Monson could give them a "thumbs up". If new Q15 members were called up during the meetings, when they went to take their seat the Indian guy would get up then give them a temple handshake and a five points of fellowship-type hug before exiting the stage and disappearing for good.
When questioned afterwards church leaders can claim they had no idea who they were, how they got there, or where they went.
Fun times.
