I don't believe that this thread is turning into anything - it has - pages ago - already turned into one of the most bizarre discussions I have ever read on the MDB.
Of all the hills to do battle on - why this one? And why is there such an enormous effort being extended to win this hill............ an ant hill?
Something doesn't fit here?
I don't get it.
Odd!

I'm just highlighting the hypocrisy of the rhetoric here. It really wouldn't have been a big deal if so many people hadn't decided they were going to be dishonest and dogmatic about what is and isn't a fact in this issue.

I realize it's just a petty rhetorical swipe on your part that requires the acceptance of your demonstrably unsupported assumption, but there are actually decades of very, very good scholarship highlighting the impossibility of delineating religion as an analytical category at all. That's just a point of interest, not an attempt to engage your rhetorical swipe in any way.

I have to laugh at your attempt to paint me as the hypocrite when every single one of your and everyone else's attempts to characterize my putative apologetic stance has had to completely misrepresent my positions and my arguments. You cannot point to a single thing that I have said since I came back in here that evinces dishonesty or hypocrisy regarding critical thinking, you can only insist either than I promote apologetic nonsense that I explicitly and directly reject, or that I am required by your understanding of my membership in the LDS Church to accept propositions that you deem to conflict with the ability to think critically. Prove me wrong.

You lost. Clock out.
Please never attempt to do LDS apologetics with the same style you displayed in this thread. You are at risk of doing more harm than good.
Quite a few of us on this board use to be just like you. We thought we did some good and believed our arguments were sound, but this was not the case. Chances are, more likely than not, you will grow out of this.

No one wants to see Brother Durrant portrayed as an "Offender for the Word" ponderize. Besides, he was simply showing that we are and entrepreneurial and profitic people.

I do believe Mormons subscribe to a sort of Prosperity Theology when it comes to their Saintly-ness. You know... You'll be blessed and prosper if you're faithful and pay a full tithe. Anecdotally, I recall many of my parents' peers talking openly about material blessings follow to those who are spiritually adherent. I'm sure there are dozens of talks to be found on lds.org that underpin the idea of paying tithing and then being blessed materially as a result. I see no difference between what LDS leadership pushes and what televangelists promise other than the manner in which the message is conveyed.

Say it again and maybe it will magically become true. You demonstrably insisted it was a fact that Durrant orchestrated the event in order to make money, which is demonstrably not a fact. That's the beginning and end of this whole thing.

I don't do apologetics, I promote being honest and objective. The hatred and the anger that that engenders on this website should raise some flags for many of you, but it doesn't. As I have stated numerous times, I criticize the Church more than I defend it. You all have to turn a blind eye to that fact because it undermines the stereotypes that are so critical to your rhetorical message.

Absolutely not true.

Go pretend to condescend to someone who thinks you have the capacity for critical thought.

You know. At one point I thought you were just a dick with a thesaurus. Now I know you're just a brainwashed guy with a thesaurus. I almost feel bad for you because of your life's circumstances. Almost.
Good luck with your mental gymnastics; I give you 8/10 for the mental machinations thus far.
