Have you tried drinking water?

I drink a gallon of water a day, as a 'flush' to try to avoid recurrence of kidney stones. That's about all I can do. But I do like hot coffee too, so now it's tea.

Sock Puppet wrote:Yea, that's how Coke was regarded when I was growing up too. I think it is so funny to hear lifers now claim that it has all along been okay to drink Coke. Some of them in real life I recall having told me as recent as three years ago they'd never had a Coke or other cola. One told me this week that when he was on a mission (1971-73), they were told by the mission president to drink a Coke for an upset stomach and that he did several times--this is one of the guys I have a distinct memory of telling me not that long ago that he'd never drank a Coke. Funny how their experiences get retrofitted to the new pronouncements.

I have always been a Pepsiholic. My Dad has, too. LOL My TBM ex-husband would always look down his nose at me for having to have my Pepsi. I thought it was hilarious when we went out to Texas one Christmas to visit his parents who were serving as mission presidents there. Out of respect for them, I had brought Caffeine free Pepsi with me on the trip. When we arrived, my mother-in-law said, "Oh, President ______ just bought you a 12 pack of Pepsi, Jesse."

So the mission president had a 12 pack of regular Pepsi in his shopping cart. How times have changed.

I still have to get used to seeing 2 liters of regular Coke, Pepsi, Mountain Dew, etc. at Ward potlucks. It still seems really weird to me.
So you're chasing around a fly and in your world, I'm the idiot?

Is marijuana a herb?

Well, since it isn't used for treating horse ailments I think we're good!

Various herbal teas are just fine.
Now I'm going to have Steak since it is cold outside.

sock puppet wrote:I've understood that consuming alcohol is a greater sin against the WoW than coffee or tea. On my mission, we could baptize someone that agreed to only drink decaf coffee in the future, for example. Not someone who agreed to give up liquor for just wine and beer.

How do coffee and tea rank relative to one another? The same? Is coffee considered worse than tea? Why? Are iced tea and iced coffee okay?

Coffee was drying me out. Perhaps it has a high sodium level. I switched to black tea about 4 months ago; quickly returned to normal levels of hydration.

Does the LDS church consider tea drinkers as significant of violators of the WoW as it considers coffee drinkers?

Lesser to worse:

-Any prescription, abused or otherwise; oxy, medicinal MJ, pure heroin.
-overeating at the buffet line 20 years straight- not sparingly eating meat.
-Herbal tea.
-Caffeinated sodas.
-Caffeinated teas & coffees.
-Wine, champaign, beer.
-Spirits / hard alcohol
-Smoking
-MJ non prescription
-Meth, heroin...unprescribed scedule I drugs.
- going to church or the temple high.

My brother-in-law and I were playing Minecraft the other day (while Skyping - it's how we hang out since he's in a foreign country right now) and my daughter walked in and watched for a moment. I pushed a cow down a hole into the cattle holding pen we'd excavated to hold our herd. It was far enough of a drop (3 or 4 blocks) that the cow turned red for a second and made an aggrieved mooing sound in the game, indicating that it was injured.

My daughter asked if the cow was dead. I said no, it was just hurt, but we'd give it some tobacco and it would be fine. My ex-Mo brother-in-law and I both laughed, but my daughter didn't get it.

I bemoaned the fact that my daughter had stopped believing and checked out of the church early enough during her teens that she in fact never had the kind of education in Mormon beliefs that would have enabled her to get our little Mormon jokes. But then I checked myself - no, good for her!
Mormonism ceased being a compelling topic for me when I finally came to terms with its transformation from a personality cult into a combination of a real estate company, a SuperPac, and Westboro Baptist Church. - Kishkumen
