Some of them in real life I recall having told me as recent as three years ago they'd never had a Coke or other cola. One told me this week that when he was on a mission (1971-73), they were told by the mission president to drink a Coke for an upset stomach and that he did several times--this is one of the guys I have a distinct memory of telling me not that long ago that he'd never drank a Coke. Funny how their experiences get retrofitted to the new pronouncements.
I have always been a Pepsiholic. My Dad has, too. LOL My TBM ex-husband would always look down his nose at me for having to have my Pepsi. I thought it was hilarious when we went out to Texas one Christmas to visit his parents who were serving as mission presidents there. Out of respect for them, I had brought Caffeine free Pepsi with me on the trip. When we arrived, my mother-in-law said, "Oh, President ______ just bought you a 12 pack of Pepsi, Jesse."
So the mission president had a 12 pack of regular Pepsi in his shopping cart. How times have changed.
I still have to get used to seeing 2 liters of regular Coke, Pepsi, Mountain Dew, etc. at Ward potlucks. It still seems really weird to me.
