"Powers of Discernment" and the Temple
Re: "Powers of Discernment" and the Temple
I feel so blessed that there is one person here who has cut through millennia of misunderstanding and lies, and is revealing to us the true purposes of God.
How could this be? But it is happening before our eyes.

Zadok:
I did not have a faith crisis. I discovered that the Church was having a truth crisis.
Maksutov:
That's the problem with this supernatural stuff, it doesn't really solve anything. It's a placeholder for ignorance.

Verily, Chap, there are prophets here by the dozens, not one false or fanatical!

I'd like to share this text with you, Brother Maktusov:
Numbers 11:29
And Moses said unto him, Enviest thou for my sake? would God that all the Lord's people were prophets, and that the Lord would put his spirit upon them!
It could get even better! Every poster should be a prophet!

I have to wonder what it is that drives you to respond to issues on this board. It surely is not a serious consideration of the scriptures. You mock ancient texts as having no value. You mock people who actually do a serious study. Maybe it is mocking others which brings you joy. If that is the case then please mock away. At least you are not throwing stones.

Why do ancient texts (and ancient thinking) have more value than newer ones?
“When we are confronted with evidence that challenges our deeply held beliefs we are more likely to reframe the evidence than we are to alter our beliefs. We simply invent new reasons, new justifications, new explanations. Sometimes we ignore the evidence altogether.” (Mathew Syed 'Black Box Thinking')

Wow, reality has no bounds or constraints with this approach.
Kolob’s set time is “one thousand years according to the time appointed unto that whereon thou standest” (Abraham 3:4). I take this as a round number. - Gee

We humans have a vast amount of knowledge. It is built up one step at a time. To study our own history gives us insight into the thinking of our ancestors. I find that valuable, many people do not. There is a line of thinking that ancient people were closer to God and therefore their writings give us insight into man's relationship with God. I don't actually hold to that kind of thinking. I believe that ancient text are filled with forgeries and stumbling blocks. To me it is a puzzle to figure out.
For me I think that current writings are just as valuable as old ones. I do not think that man has changed much in thousands of years.

To finish the thought we come back from one life to another. Hyrum died but one day his spirit will return in another body and will be a prophet. At least that is what I believe. But everyone can read what they wish into the words.

Which is another way of making my point. Congrats on leaving the church by the way. Have you had your name removed from the rolls yet?

You mock people who actually do a serious study.
Oh really? People who do "serious study" aren't afraid to be challenged and questioned. You throw a lot of stuff out there just on your say so on subjects that have been controversial for CENTURIES and you think you've got the all knowing answer wrapped up in your head and we should just KNOW that EVERYTHING YOU SAY is TRUE.
No.
