Is anyone surprised? The CES letter has caused more trouble for the Brethren than just about anything in Mormon history. They must be looking for a little payback.

Most people don't agree with me, but I do think that serious cracks are forming in the Mormon wall.
This, or any other post that I have made or will make in the future, is strictly my own opinion and consequently of little or no value.

From Jeremy Runnells website:

Upon its public release, CES Letter went viral and immediately became a Mormon internet phenomenon, providing validation and support to tens of thousands of questioning current and former LDS Church members. CES Letter has been downloaded an estimated 600,000 times to date, and over 12,000 LDS Church members have reached out to Runnells after reading the CES Letter.

That is a lot of downloads. I bet the CES letter has caught the attention of the brethren.

On Facebook, Chris Hendricks posted
Obviously what they are saying by doing this, is what you have written in this letter is true. I hope you go and ask them to provide answers to the questions posted in the letter (and rebuttals). I know it's unlikely they will do so, instead choosing to patronizingly profess their brand of "christlike"™ love.

How many members has the LDS church ex'd for telling people that Mormons have horns?

How many members has the LDS church ex'd for telling people that Mormons are not allowed to dance or laugh?

How many members has the LDS church ex'd for telling people that Mormons aren't supposed to drink colas?

Still counting all these on one hand, if only you could find any members ex'd for these reasons.

The LDS church does not excommunicate members for telling lies, just for telling the truth like Runnells has been.

I am surprised Jeremy is still a member. I would have thought that he of all people would know the church is not what it claims to be. He should legally resign from the church prior to the 14th. Hopefully local leaders remain unaware of his resignation and proceed with the disciplinary court. Then Jeremy could sue and settle out of court and maybe get some of his tithing money back.

He's out and it is about time. They should have ex'd him long ago.

Non intelligent argument.....

First nobody says those things that used to be Mormon, except the cola thing, and that's a non-issue, not even close to apostasy.
Second, the only one "lying" is Runnell..... as FAIR has in depth documented.

He's being excommunicated per standard excummunication policy, active efforts of trying to destroy the Church he's a member of.
Such invalidates that membership, no different than creating a Website to tell crap on the Company you work for would result in your Firing!!!
Ooooo so evil the Church is for doing what any organization would do.....

Oh and by the way.....

I love how anti-mormons utterly LIE when they claim "they" are the "actual" truth tellers, such as this statement.

CES Letter represents Mr. Runnells' sincere attempt to obtain answers to legitmate questions and doubts through proper church leadership channels. Instead of providing pastoral support to Mr. Runnells, the LDS Church has chosen to continue its recent trend of excommunicating members who openly question or doubt church teachings.

You all know very well that the CES Letter was no "sincere attempt" to obtain answers from the Church.
He was directly critical. What a joke you people are.

A vigil for Jeremy Runnells is being organized

LOL.... seriously??? You people are so gullible.

Too bad the court of b.s. was called so soon. Dehlin and co. should be allowed to make this into a national spectacle I'm sure it'll be fun though and give a little more pub to the letter.

There was no "sincerity" to this guy....

1. He wrote in inflamatory language, clearly just regurgitating anti-mormon websites, he didn't actually read source material.

2. He created a website just for a "letter".

3. He actively promoted the website in social media etc.

4. He wouldn't now be engaging in "self promotion" with vigils, etc.

Clearly, this was some ex-member who became anti-mormon and then realized how he could get famous like other anti-mormons.
So, he sent his letter to create plausability, and then created his website, and went all out.

He made no effort engaging the churches best scholars, and when they did themselves, he instead obfuscates creates diversions in his rebuttal.

As organized this is, how much editing goes on to his letter, it wouldn't surprise me if this was some anti-mormon who joined the church or was already a member for a long time and inactive or something, was already part of some anti-mormon group, and went creating this con job.

Thus, per the facts there was/is absolutely no sincerity in this guys heart and actions.
He already knew the truth, and then did the rest for show and support of the anti-mormons like here.

by the way, this is telling.....

In February 2012, Jeremy experienced a crisis of faith, which subsequently led to a faith transition that summer.

That seems to imply he joined another Religion.....
That would explain why this all is so organized.... He's having a party with likely an anti-mormon group in another religion.
