He's this guy, right? What a little sweetheart.
Preening? I simply tried to give you an example.
As to your explanation, it is disingenuous. Heavenly Father is not nearly as limited as you need Him to be. But, as has been shown, He IS consistent. As to translations, I was not there, but the similarities do not bother me as they were directed by God.
I apologize for upsetting you so.
Surprise, surprise, there is no divine mandate for the Church to discuss and portray its history accurately.

Or- could it be - that it's in the eyes of the beholder? Isn't it interesting that only to ldsfaqs and utahtexan do people here appear not only identical, but identically BAD?
Ockham's Razor would suggest a simpler explanation than an anti playbook. I don't think it's occurring to utahtexan, however, that acting like ldsfaqs really is a mistake.
I think there is a good reason that critics (I don't like the term anti-Mormon) sound similar.
Defenders of LDS doctrine (apologists) all seem to have a different pet theory that explains why the Book of Mormon could be true. Limited location, Heartland vs South or Central America, locations in the Levant that might match words in the Book of Mormon, etc. The trouble they are having these days is that there is absolutely no evidence to back them up.
Critics all come from the single point of view that the Book of Mormon is a total fiction and Joseph Smith (or whomever) was making it up as he went along. They have a vast amount of evidence to back up their arguments. DNA, linguistics and a total lack of any archaeological evidence that points to Book of Mormon histories.
Guys like UT come to this board occasionally and find themselves in a room full of well educated, well informed, mostly former TBMs that can easily point out all the holes in all his arguments and he is totally overwhelmed. All he has left is personal insults.
This, or any other post that I have made or will make in the future, is strictly my own opinion and consequently of little or no value.

In all honesty, I have not found any of the well-educated folks you claim exist. That is not to say you aren't, just that it is not shown. '
What I HAVE seen is the same anti-stuff over and over from the same anti-type personalities, followed by the pack-dog mentality of attacking anyone who disagrees with you.
You see the same kinda thing from the Black Lives Matter people.
Just look at your posts....I come in....post a few comments and you descend and spend post after post attacking me, insulting me.....it is humorous...
and easy.
So, pat yourselves on the back some more...insult some more...attack some more. Tell yourselves how evolved you are, how intelligent you are, how enlightened you are. Tell yourselves how idiotic everyone who disagrees with you is. I pop back now and then to see how correct I have been and to chuckle at what I see.
I hold no ill will against anyone. It would be like being angry at the pack dogs who have been conditioned. You simply are what you are. I simply am what I am. You are miserable that Mormons are happy.

Out of interest, can you give a specific example of what you class as "anti-stuff"?

We simply invent new reasons, new justifications, new explanations. Sometimes we ignore the evidence altogether.” (Mathew Syed 'Black Box Thinking')

I don't think people here are miserable that Mormons are supposedly happy. I don't think living with cognitive dissonance makes one happy. I don't think the pressures of the property gospel and belief in false, fantastical narratives are the recipe for true happiness. I think there is a connection between Mormonism and higher than average anti-depressant use in Utah. So I dispute that Mormons are really happy to begin with.
If people over here are angry, it's because of the damage the church does to people by preaching false narratives. Joseph Smith simply wasn't the superhero the church wants to portray him as. The current leaders aren't inspired from God and the Book of Mormon is fiction and poor fiction at that. So if there is anger it's a justified anger one feels toward any fraudster who is defrauding one's family.

I'm not. I am convinced that some people really need Mormonism to be happy, and I don't begrudge them that at all. I wasn't happy in the church, but that doesn't mean no one is. I don't try to get people out of the church (what would be the point?), but I do think that people who are unhappy in the church would be better outside of it.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I certainly lived with depression and perfectionism and cognitive dissonance. Everything fell apart when I realized I had to stop rationalizing things I knew weren't right. And I've said before I don't think I would have ever recognized my long-term depression had I not left the church and stopped telling myself how blessed and happy I was. I don't know that I even understood what happiness was.

One of the hardest things for me to overcome was this notion that anger is always a bad thing, so you have to suppress it and "move on." No, you can't move on until you've dealt with the anger, and for me, it was justifiable anger.
I'm completely unimpressed by people who come in here sneering and mocking and reminding us every second about their incredible skills as a litigator. But there are great people here with a lot of insight and knowledge, and I value your friendship and perspective.

Insult, insult, insult. And run from arguments.
Run, run, run.
And lie. Of course you have ill will against the people on this board. You've made it clear. And angry? You're the one that has to dehumanize us and call us dogs, miserable, etc.
Coward and liar. And apparently no grounds for belief other than your own ego.

Isn't interesting that so many "happy" people are angry and treat other people terribly? I wonder why that is.
