For a very long time now (5+years?), I have always looked forward to reading your board contributions. Even when I don't have very much interest in the thread topic, when I see that you have entered a post, I almost always go and read what you have to say. Simply put, I am a big fan of yours and I am grateful to have been able to consider you a friend over the years.
On a number of levels, this thread was a very special treat to have read.
Thank you for sharing it with us here.
Peace,
Ceeboo
Hello Ceeboo,
You know - I think it has been more than 5 years. As I have mentioned before, you are one of the individuals whose posts I will read whenever I see them. Thanks for the kind words and hope you are doing well.
I was thinking about you and some of the others on the board over the weekend while reading
The Illusion of God's Presence: The Biological Origins of Spiritual Longing.Forgetting about raccoons and whales for a time, this book has some great illustrations of evolution at work, not touching on speciation, or on abiogenesis, but on optimizing the adaptation of species to their environments to help ensure their survival.
There are some great illustrations (stories really) from natural history and some valuable insights into human behaviors related to religion, something I know is important to you. I think you would really enjoy the book.
Who knows, you might even find a different way of understanding those of us not blessed with a god shaped vacuum in our psyches.
