Facsimile No. 3 lies

Post by _Shulem »

Mormon revelation declares:

"King Pharaoh, whose name is given in the characters above his head."

This is false. There is no truth whatsoever in this translation or in the silly Mormon interpretation of the Egyptian texts. Joseph Smith was pretending to translate the ancient language and the entire church was fooled.

All of the Explanations of Facsimile No. 3 are completely false. Mormon revelations and the inspiration of the Mormon Holy Ghost are lies. They have been scientifically proven false. Mormons today love to live in lies and defend their lies. They love to spread lies and live in them like flies feeding on poop.

For shame. Shoo the Mormon flies lest they spread their filth on you!

The Guide to the Scriptures (LDS.org)
LYING
Any communication of falsehood or untruth for the purpose of deception.

"King Pharaoh, whose name is given in the characters above his head."

All evidence and testimony on record proves Joseph Smith was lying. His attempts to translate the ancient Egyptian hieroglyphic language demonstrate conclusively that he could not translate Egyptian and that his claims were totally false.

The Explanations of Facsimile No. 3 that were given by the pretended translator are published lies repeatedly told by the LDS church and these lies continue this day as supported by the Mormon leadership and membership of the church.

Mormons are a lying people who have great need to repent and begin practicing the true principles of honesty.

Joseph Smith -- prophet, seer, and translator declared:

"King Pharaoh, whose name is given in the characters above his head."

QUESTION: Is the statement correct? Is the person depicted in the vignette really the king of Egypt?

[ ] Yes [ ] NO

~ hint, the answer is either Yes or No.

Maybe it is just me but I suspect that Shulem is suggesting Joseph Smith got a few things wrong when he provided explanations for the facsimiles.

I wish he would be a little more direct and not beat around the bush so much. It's hard to know exactly where he stands on the issue of Joseph Smith's ability to translate Egyptian.

Please note that the narrative testifies that Joseph Smith claimed he was the only mortal that could translate the Egyptian writing upon the papyrus purchased by the LDS church. In that era, no one in the world could read Egyptian and the Mormons knew this when they purchased the Egyptian artifacts from Chandler. Joseph Smith knew that the ancient language was a dead language and that no one could verify or disprove his own translations.

"Some parchments inscribed with hieroglyphics were then offered us. They were preserved under glass and handled with great respect. 'THAT IS THE WRITING OF ABRAHAM, the Father of the Faithful,' said the prophet, 'THIS IS THE AUTOGRAPH OF MOSES, and THESE LINES WERE WRITTEN BY HIS BROTHER AARON. . . . . .We were further assured that the prophet was the ONLY MORTAL WHO COULD TRANSLATE these mysterious writings, and that his power was given by direct revelation."

Josiah Quincy, Figures of the Past, p. 385; Nauvoo, May 1844
The Saga of the Book of Abraham; Jay M. Todd, p. 256
The Story of the Pearl of Great Price; James R. Clark, p. 112,113

QUESTION: Which is easier to believe: Explanations of Facsimile No. 3 or Moses and Aaron were authors to Joseph’s papyri?

[ ] Facsimile No. 3 Explanations is easier to believe
[ ] Autographs of Moses and Aaron on the papyrus is easier to believe

The Book of Abraham evidence really hit me realizing actual translations showed nothing to do with Abraham. Then looking at Joseph's other translation claim lacked any good evidence and made many claims clearly false and stemmed from the society Joseph lived in, and it was clear he was just another religious con. Then I looked to see if he behaved similar to other religious con-men and yes he certainly did. Good old financial fraud and sleeping with many women. At this point I could no longer believe God was part of this fraud or pious fraud.

Precisely right. By studying Bayes theorem it forces us to ask here is the evidence that we have about Joseph Smith. Is this the kind of evidence we would expect to have if he was a true prophet? The evidence speaks for itself as you've noted.

Mr. Chandler (traveling salesman) gave Joseph Smith the opportunity to compete and see if he was able to translate the dead hieroglyphic language. Previously, according to Chandler, others had made the attempt and now it was Joseph's chance to step up to the plate and see if he could translate Egyptian into English. He was given a fragment to translate and later presented his answers to Mr. Chandler. Lo and behold, Joseph Smith SUPPOSEDLY came up with the same meaning or translation as Chandler had previously received from someone else.

How can this be? The Egyptian language was not known and Chandler could not have received a correct translation from anyone. But apparently, Chandler claimed that Joseph Smith knew what he was talking about because Joseph's translations agreed with that of another translator.

Bottom line: Mr. Chandler was probably lying and was just trying to woo Joseph Smith by complimenting his supposed ability to translate correctly with the intent of making a sale. There is no way that Joseph Smith and the prior translator could have correctly translated the fragment. The Egyptian language was dead and whatever the previous translator revealed to Chandler was convoluted nonsense, no more correct than that of Joseph Smith's.

Doesn't it seem that pretty much everyone was just telling lies?

QUESTION: Could Joseph Smith convince any of the kings of Egypt that Anubis in Facsimile No. 3 is a slave?

[ ] YES [ ] NO
