When you are less than what you expect, soon those who keep the higher standard begin to question why. This leads to the loss of these members who cannon abide a inferior system.

Odd that Yahoo Bot didn't know that.
Who is the narrator? Is it really the case that there's lots of reasons why members fail, why essays don't work, why essays are used, why this and why that? Who is the narrator in "blame the members?" Members leave for lots of reasons. It has always been the case. There is no standard narrative, and it is just lazy and a copout to say that there is.
The standard narrative for people on this board is that they are or have been divorced and have become unhappy with the Church because of it. Make sense? Not a chance.

That's an interesting observation. Is that true? How would one know?

Awesome. Thanks for proving the point the OP.

The church blames the members and Yahoo Bot blames people on this board. Thank God someone reminded us about motes and beams.

I have not blamed "people on this board." As I have plainly said, it is senseless to create a "standard narrative" (the example I gave was about divorced persons) about anybody on this board; as well, it is senseless to create a "standard narrative" about what people in the Church say about disaffected members.

Yahoo Bot wrote:The word "narrative," like the word "transparency" in your signature, is meaningless jargon. Recently invented.
I showed above that 'narrative' was by no means a recently invented term, but has been in current use for several centuries. Having done so, I remarked:

We then get:
Yahoo Bot wrote:
Who is the narrator?
No admission is made, we note, of the abandonment of the previous weird claim that 'narrative' is recently invented meaningless Jargon. Let the record show that: it's standard behavior for Yahoo Bot. He is a controversialist more or less devoid of moral or intellectual scruple.
