Vanuatu Education Programme. Hidden agenda?

Post by _I have a question »

"Illiterate members struggle to learn the gospel and participate,"

http://www.deseretnews.com/article/8656 ... tions.html

I found that a bit jarring. The Gospel is only for the literate? Really?

It's all a bit insidious.
The missionaries also provide a religious lesson and English skill development.

It's not a 'religious' lesson -it's the missionary lessons.
I get the benefit and humanity of helping education programs, but does everything have to be about converting youth to Mormonism? Couldn't it just stop at supporting the education of those kids?

The Missionary Programme is turning into something Chitty Chitty Bang Bang's 'Child Catcher' would approve of.
“When we are confronted with evidence that challenges our deeply held beliefs we are more likely to reframe the evidence than we are to alter our beliefs. We simply invent new reasons, new justifications, new explanations. Sometimes we ignore the evidence altogether.” (Mathew Syed 'Black Box Thinking')
