How do you know what God wants?

Why would I need to accept it?
I'm just enquiring as to what you accept is the answer.

Prayer, the authorized words of a prophet or priesthood leader, revelation, consistency with scriptural precedent. And probably other ways too.
Thy mind, O man! if thou wilt lead a soul unto salvation, must stretch as high as the utmost heavens, and search into and contemplate the darkest abyss, and the broad expanse of eternity—thou must commune with God. - Joseph Smith

How when you pray do you know what God wants?

How do you know a Prophet or Priesthood leader is authorised and is saying what God wants?

One of the amazing things Joe created was the ability for the individual to speak directly to God to get their own answers. It also happens to be the greatest thorn in the side of the church when trying to maintain control over their membership. "The prophet said this, but I prayed and know they are only speaking as a man in this instance."

If you say so. Scripture is pretty clear. Murder is wrong, except when it's not. Theft is wrong, except when it's not.

Keep deluding yourself. It's your kind of mentality that causes all the problems in the world.
Riding on a speeding train; trapped inside a revolving door;
Lost in the riddle of a quatrain; Stuck in an elevator between floors.
One focal point in a random world can change your direction:
One step where events converge may alter your perception.

Whatever God requires is right.

ONLY if God FIRST provides irrefutable evidence it is HIS word or commandment, not through some human surrogate. God FIRST has to demonstrate it actually is real. Then and only then can I assent to this otherwise truly ludicrous proposition.

Mittens wrote:God does promote lying in the Book Of Abraham

Below God tells Abraham to lie

Book of Abraham 2: 25 And it came to pass that I, Abraham, told Sarai, my wife, all that the Lord had said unto me—Therefore say unto them, I pray thee, thou art my sister, that it may be well with me for thy sake, and my soul shall live because of thee.

You are aware that Genesis 20 has Abraham doing the lying for himself, right?

1 And Abraham journeyed from thence toward the south country, and dwelled between Kadesh and Shur, and sojourned in Gerar.

2 And Abraham said of Sarah his wife, She is my sister: and Abimelech king of Gerar sent, and took Sarah.

But the Church only discerns the difference when a Priesthood leader dies. Then and only then does the Prophet acknowledge what was said to be what God wanted actually wasn't. Those Priesthood leaders themselves can't discern what God wants, and they are the people telling you what God wants.

How do you specifically differentiate between "what God wants" and confirmation bias?

So the priesthood ban..... Of God or not?
It is better to be a warrior in a garden, than a gardener at war.

Some of us, on the other hand, actually prefer a religion that includes some type of correlation with reality.
