Should Joseph Smith have introduced Polygamy publicly?
I don't think anyone has really explored this question.

A response is hindered for me by my being unable to think of any reason he should have introduced it at all, either secretly or publicly.

I have read posts by LDS saying he had to be secretive about because publicity would create too much trouble.
It could run into legal trouble.

I agree, except that we're forgetting about the angels (with)/(without) flaming swords. So really, Joe's hands were tied in this situation.
