Post by _sock puppet »

Here are some interesting diagrams of the various iterations of the "plan of salvation" from various LDS luminaries of the past.

"Plan" of salvation. Yeah, right.

This seems like the Rube Goldberg guide to the Mormon "Plan of Salvation".

These are really interesting. A good demonstration of revelation coming line upon line.
The question still remains though, which came by revelation and which were the opinions of men.

(I know, I know, according to most here they're all fantasy. But for those who actually believe this is an important distinction.)
Thy mind, O man! if thou wilt lead a soul unto salvation, must stretch as high as the utmost heavens, and search into and contemplate the darkest abyss, and the broad expanse of eternity—thou must commune with God. - Joseph Smith

My questions are more like this: which options are more appealing, make more sense, and create better practical outcomes?

On the topic of spirits, I prefer Smith's idea of the eternal spirit that is "adopted" by God. For one thing, I have always found the idea of spirit babies to be treacly, literalistic nonsense. Also, I prefer adoption theology for my Christology too. Jesus as God baby is obviously a myth invented to place Jesus on par with other important figures like Alexander the Great and Augustus. Add to this the fact that Arian was right about Christ being subordinate to the Father. This is more compatible with Mormonism too. There is a lot of room for improvement in current Mormon theology. Some of the tools already exist in the old Mormon literature. By and large the ground lies fallow, waiting for good cultivators.

 You and so many others have never bothered to read my 35+ year old New Mormon Theology: Wonders of Eternity
I even gave it an update a few years ago. All I can say is that it explains EVERYTHING beyond your wildest dreams.

Is it because I spurn academia? That's it right?

It's linked in my sig. by the way

For something given via revelation there sure seems to be little knowledge and lots o guessin! No surprise anymore though.......obviously, its not really that important to God for us to know much about the reality if there is any.......that God, hes SUCH a clown isn't he:?!

A sad, little clown. Yes, Mormon god certainly is.
