Dan Peterson on Prayer

Post by _Philo Sofee »

A very moving video on prayer that captivates. The more important issue I would propose is does it actually do anything and convince God to help in our day? Or is it just more of the same old same old self fulfilling prophecy type thinking going on? Who knows for sure?

It is better to be a warrior in a garden, than a gardener at war.

Some of us, on the other hand, actually prefer a religion that includes some type of correlation with reality.

Maybe he already has. He says he likes blinding the minds of the wicked so they don’t understand his operations:

D&C 121:

12 And also that God hath set his hand and seal to change the times and seasons, and to blind their minds, that they may not understand his marvelous workings; that he may prove them also and take them in their own craftiness;

God can be crafty too, you know, when it suites his objectives.

Sounds a bit like Jeffery Holland's political allegory of how turning right was the correct path to take (it leads to Orem, Gehenna, and Mar-a-Lago).

I think you have it right, Z. The Mormon god is pretty tricky. He likes to make his church and gospel incredibly confusing and contradictory to test us, or as you say, to blind the minds of the wicked. Or maybe the Mormon god is just a trickster, loving practical jokes? He commands Mormons to dress up in silly costumes just so he and his buddies can get a laugh? He and JC are probably having a good laugh right now at Bro. Brown and how ridiculous Bro. Brown looks in that baker outfit. :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:
