There just aren't truly qualified apologists here any more. All driven off by one tactic or another. I know Dr. Peterson was threatened by a (I mean, "with a") lawsuit and with violence from this board.
Who threatened violence from this board?

Wow! Can you substantiate that? Bill Hamblin going apostate would be news on a par with classic FARMS getting shut down. Hamblin is/was DCP's best friend... If true, this is astonishing.

I've seen Bot's blog posts about his high-fitness adventures. He is no grandpa in a wheelchair, nor is he drunk.
Instead, Bot is a clever, devious chaos-generator. His primary purpose is to sow linguistic and mental confusion. He does not misinterpret so much as deliberately mischaracterize others' posts.

Yahoo Bot is very fit. He puts most of us to shame, frankly. He tries to be funny, and self-deprecation works if you know who he is.

The only time I'm aware of Dan having been threatened with a lawsuit on this board was by Robert Ritner way back in 2007, and in that case, he very much had it coming:
viewtopic.php?p=623216#p623216There could have been another lawsuit threat somewhere, I really didn't keep up with all of Dan's back-and-forth here.

I really don't know which would be more astonishing--people like Hamblin and Schryver leaving the church, or people like them
staying? I'll always remember when Schryver went from being the hero of apologetics that once and for all threw all Book of Abraham criticisms into Mount Doom to
persona non grata at BYU. It happened overnight. He changed his MDD avatar from the Wizard of Oz scarecrow to a scarecrow being crucified. Totally understandable. He originally thought that Gerald Bradford was a rogue administrator and that the Lord's Anointed would set everything right. Then he slowly figured out Bradford was doing nothing more nor less than loyally following the brethren.

He will deny it. There is no way in hell he will fess up. He's developed his new personality and character for the forum and it suits him just fine.
Of course, I could be wrong. But I think it's him.

He's been threatened with legal action multiple times--a real credit to his charming personality, I guess--though not all of them were necessarily connected to this board. The most salient example I can recall is this one:
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=8857But, of course, he actually *was* taken to court by Kurt Van Gorden in a defamation lawsuit (though it needs to be said that the judge tossed the case out "with prejudice"). He was also briefly
threatened with legal action by Blair Hodges in the wake of the "You go to hell!!" confrontation at the 2014 FAIR Conference.
I feel like I'm forgetting other instances.
