He is roughly 1,000 miles to your north.

Sorry about that!

He already told me how the church's usual response to somebody like him is to tell them they need to read the Book of Mormon.

He didn't seem to think it useful advice.
Good advice can be rejected as well as accepted, that is true.

This thread reminds me why I was such a supporter of the Mormon Story regional groups ideal when it first started in 2010ish. It's tough to leave a cult and emotional support is important. Getting together and drinking a beer with some of the other Oregon apostates helped me and jwald a lot.

And it's important that people know they are not crazy and that other people have gone through the same experience. This friend of Consig sounds almost like my own storie to the t.

Even though I no longer attend those type of functions I'm still friend and we'll meet up with some of the guys like "Little John" and Garen from Mormon Expressions, etc. And folks like Brian Johnson and our very own Wayfarer

Oh that reminds me. I was complaining about the John dehlin stuff to jwald and bragging about how I never got sucked in and paid money to Mormon Stories Conferences or Open Stories Foundation, and she told me that I've been paying a dollar a month from her paypal for the last three years to Mormon Expression, and that ME sent a note about canceling it. I wonder if John Larsen knows or if it's just a PayPal still collecting money in some closed account? I should probably send him an email
