Very thought-provoking words, honor. You've given me a lot to ponder.

I agree, but it is difficult not to be discouraged right now.

Yeah. Sometimes, I feel like I'm being smothered.

Cheer up. Go toss small bits of feather and fur at some fish. HF is fishing well.

Some of us, on the other hand, actually prefer a religion that includes some type of correlation with reality.

I think what's left unstated by Armstrong there is the "God as an explanation for some aspect of nature" holds such sway in large part because it's viewed as needed to justify belief in the existence of a God. Take that away, and your kneecapping the theologians' case for rational belief. This might suit her own thinking, but it's a problem.

Dawkins is naïve about the philosophy behind apologetics and hasn't deigned to educate himself despite his pop counter-apologist status. But he focuses on a widely popular way of thinking about God because people correctly feel the need to find their faith justified. God the explainer is what they got.

I know the temptation is to read this as a swipe against Dawkins, but it's moreso a swipe against theology.

I've yet to see a rational argument for belief.
