The world of Mormonism and the Paranormal culture are increasingly drifting together.

Warren Aston, Meridian Magazine author and apologist, is also a frequent contributor to Fate magazine, the creation of Ray Palmer and the original and greatest promoter of the ET UFO hypothesis AND other paranormal subjects such as spiritualism, cryptids, revisionist ancient histories, the Hollow Earth, etc. Some have argued in the past whether Mormonism should be considered a forerunner of UFO religions in that it describes beings who have arrived from outside our star system. If Smith did indeed develop some of his ideas from Swedenborg, Swedenborg was a direct ancestor of theosophy and the early UFO contactee movement that used characters from earlier occult traditions with a thin veneer of science fiction.

My grammar is murky...the "greatest promoter" is a reference to Fate Magazine, which I would describe that way historically in modern paranormal culture.

Yes, Mormonism originated in the paranormal culture of its place and time....the 1820s/1830s. But it has spent much of the time since trying to look mainstream. Sort of.

I think The Atom was in fact named after Palmer. There's a fascinating book on him by Fred Nadis.

It is a shame that Dr. Peterson will not be there to conduct a workshop on dowsing. That would be very interesting and informative. Think of what we could find in our own backyard once we know the proper dowsing principles.

Consider Roswell and the First Vision. Both invented in retrospect and the details added to over time. Neither one has affirmative evidence but both became the foundation of more inventions.
